a) ballast provided with batteries:

failure of the normal supply and the end of rated duration of operation are retained for the7 D0 k7 K/ x F8 D: e" n+ W
EBLF measurement.
3 J* Z" t$ g& U( ^ K$ @& t- f$ Tb) ballast not provided with batteries and designed for d.c. central supply system:
' o! U+ J# v j. C/ B' M7 a4 sThe rated (V1) and the minimum (Vmin) voltages as declared by the ballast manufacturer are) v! I# X1 K" x4 a( O$ q4 `- u
retained for the EBLF measurement. In this case the Vmin value is taken to be 0,85 times the$ \2 o% p- e; b. e- g3 v, O& u. ]' i
rated voltage (V1) unless specifically advised of a different value by the control gear" e) F- l# L o/ v1 T
manufacturer.8 i' s# w. P x; U& f
NOTE The value of 0,85 times rated voltage is selected to provide consistency with IEC 60598-2-22:1997, Clause* P) F/ u! r" ~# W: D/ H* m

Measurement of EBLF shall be made at 25 °C, using a lamp of the appropriate type and
3 X3 \$ k) q6 h; x: {1 ^having not been lit for 24 , first at V1 after 5 s and 60 s of the application of the d.c. voltage,
% n! U' f6 r6 q) d, ~7 j( c) u7 c8 sthen in steady conditions at Vmin.
' @! x7 y- f+ X+ HThe lowest value of the values measured at 60 s and V1 or in steady conditions at Vmin shall
# u0 L* ]" G" e) L0 y4 \be retained and shall reach at least the declared EBLF.
! | p( ~1 ?% b4 F) wThe value measured at 5 s and V1 shall reach at least 50 % of declared EBLF.
# r" { M8 g/ p8 w CNOTE Replace 60 s by 0,5 s for ballasts declared for use in luminaires for high-risk task area lighting.9 M0 O) `: Q. \. G
As declared EBLF must be reached after 0,5 s, measurements at 5 s are not considered.5 n( \- i1 ~4 d
Any test circuit corresponding to that of Figure 1 can be used to make the measurement of EBLF. The luminous flux of a lamp is usually measured with an integrating photometer. For ratio measurements of luminous fluxes, a suitable illuminance meter is sufficient as there is a close relationship between luminous flux and illumination at a fixed point.! T- Y. g" D5 f# z
NOTE Other methods may apply for determining EBLF in particular methods which record permanently the luminous flux of the lamp associated to the ballast under test.4 P" J J- K1 h! s
