The appropriate lamp associated to the ballast shall provide the necessary light output after

The voltage supplied to the ballast by the batteries is continuously measured during

values measured at 60 s (V1) and the lowest voltage (Vmin) measured between 60 s after

The rated (V1) and the minimum (Vmin) voltages as declared by the ballast manufacturer are5 Q: ?4 h9 } y# k# Z Q; q
retained for the EBLF measurement. In this case the Vmin value is taken to be 0,85 times the- J* D+ t7 B! j: e* B/ d$ y
rated voltage (V1) unless specifically advised of a different value by the control gear
* T8 o6 B7 m" J9 f9 jmanufacturer.
- n+ z. X, F" W) @NOTE The value of 0,85 times rated voltage is selected to provide consistency with IEC 60598-2-22:1997, Clause) r. R3 A) ~' i, Z

Measurement of EBLF shall be made at 25 °C, using a lamp of the appropriate type and8 z* @" b" ~. F4 d6 D! b
having not been lit for 24 , first at V1 after 5 s and 60 s of the application of the d.c. voltage,
! u5 C; M) F$ l+ V8 [! m; |then in steady conditions at Vmin.
6 Q, n6 k! Y! c1 Z$ s+ VThe lowest value of the values measured at 60 s and V1 or in steady conditions at Vmin shall

The value measured at 5 s and V1 shall reach at least 50 % of declared EBLF.& w6 V6 m# ~! `# u
NOTE Replace 60 s by 0,5 s for ballasts declared for use in luminaires for high-risk task area lighting.# \5 `0 x2 p, |! j1 u
As declared EBLF must be reached after 0,5 s, measurements at 5 s are not considered.
7 d& j2 ~- |4 j# y2 X+ |1 QAny test circuit corresponding to that of Figure 1 can be used to make the measurement of EBLF. The luminous flux of a lamp is usually measured with an integrating photometer. For ratio measurements of luminous fluxes, a suitable illuminance meter is sufficient as there is a close relationship between luminous flux and illumination at a fixed point.
