installed components at an end-product manufacturing facility. They
: r) \+ p- S9 a) C5 k2 v! xare defined as components consisting of two or more wires joined
$ Q+ i; l& b) x% qelectrically and/or mechanically, and may include connectors, plugs,, ~$ m. |4 x6 F7 [ P: C. R
strain reliefs, splices, etc. When assembled at an off-site location,9 Q. E/ m/ Q9 C n7 E) `) v! g
traceability for components used to construct a wiring harness is! X7 X; c3 J1 a8 ~- P
not possible at an end-product factory location. This program can X1 m; B/ X, P4 u9 x( t
be used to provide this traceability. Each wiring harness is normally
: d2 ?7 f4 z, H, u6 q& Mconstructed in accordance with a harness diagram and is generally
& ~9 y) K" X8 _7 e) qdesigned for a specific application that is indicated on a diagram) c+ }+ W! a) T" k3 O1 ~
or carton marking. These wiring harnesses are not intended for* O# P9 s0 {2 Z+ @$ F
field installation. An assembly consisting solely of a cord set, power% b$ g7 E# d; c) [4 z9 @3 r
supply cord or power supply cord attached to an appliance such as
( P) w' L4 a8 U; i8 Ra motor is not eligible for coverage under this program.; j' C3 n$ V+ J, L1 T0 h9 y& a3 ?
Method of traceability/ B8 S, j4 N1 V" _3 L
An off-site fabricator assembles a wiring harness in accordance with( K" I( k8 n, c/ |9 S, e; D( w( B
a harness diagram, print or other specification from an end-product, K( F, ?' u& s# o" B3 K8 Q
manufacturer that details construction elements and components. Q( b) K5 @6 V; T2 z
to be used in assembling a harness. A harness manufacturer* S+ _( ~2 Y' G' E$ ^0 m' n1 G/ g
will assemble a harness in accordance with these specifications
' k6 @+ N c5 x6 o* j4 }and, provided that a wiring harness is in compliance with these
/ E) ~* w, H0 J( Y& g6 V) ^, H2 Fspecifications, it may be shipped with the UL Mark. Traceability for
( z$ N3 y5 n) l" b, s: pthese construction elements is further determined at an end-product9 [ a! x" Z# v, Q' @# _! a
manufacturing location and involves verifying that these features
