+ }; W2 A- M4 ?+ q5 V' n6 ~) _are defined as components consisting of two or more wires joined/ C) m- @1 A" W* A0 W4 M
electrically and/or mechanically, and may include connectors, plugs,- [: S4 j, P' k8 x2 b- O
strain reliefs, splices, etc. When assembled at an off-site location,% T5 M; h! C9 _) q- w! }
traceability for components used to construct a wiring harness is
& L0 G N) i$ k9 ?2 y2 g }+ F- Xnot possible at an end-product factory location. This program can; N4 E. X# h7 P3 ^
be used to provide this traceability. Each wiring harness is normally+ Y6 h# g' n0 D- D* j2 @
constructed in accordance with a harness diagram and is generally
& c& \3 } D5 s& W( `! ?2 v8 xdesigned for a specific application that is indicated on a diagram
9 g9 |+ h2 T6 sor carton marking. These wiring harnesses are not intended for. o8 O7 g; g* K# F9 ?) k! U
field installation. An assembly consisting solely of a cord set, power
1 G4 O2 X0 Z" u2 O0 P8 f! h* h# {supply cord or power supply cord attached to an appliance such as
8 i& W* h# H* L% u4 P$ `a motor is not eligible for coverage under this program.4 Q6 P# ]4 q% ]) H7 L0 Z
Method of traceability
6 O3 o; H7 p: T1 k* U) l1 i# LAn off-site fabricator assembles a wiring harness in accordance with
: K" l9 \# a$ I1 t" e- e- C0 p& Ra harness diagram, print or other specification from an end-product1 a0 ^6 y7 h8 @" a5 l
manufacturer that details construction elements and components
$ [0 g5 T: x" q) |: Oto be used in assembling a harness. A harness manufacturer: [4 J$ o+ z3 _7 \1 M, I5 \
will assemble a harness in accordance with these specifications
* s& |) |# M" I2 S7 Eand, provided that a wiring harness is in compliance with these
- ?9 W+ d) ?8 B9 g/ m5 w' hspecifications, it may be shipped with the UL Mark. Traceability for2 [6 ?0 S- t8 A2 | z
these construction elements is further determined at an end-product' X% K! C. i% M) D+ H8 U
manufacturing location and involves verifying that these features# M' [+ b; q1 l8 T5 S! ^+ u, x2 X
comply with an end-product Follow-Up Services procedure.
