assembled at off-site locations and intended for use as factory$ \& X4 \) g! S$ ?8 W6 F, L
installed components at an end-product manufacturing facility. They
& U- P P1 b8 _- t. pare defined as components consisting of two or more wires joined
; r" E5 T2 j c% S% Xelectrically and/or mechanically, and may include connectors, plugs,
5 W) N0 Z* i$ B" H$ |strain reliefs, splices, etc. When assembled at an off-site location,9 w0 _! W0 D W: O/ l
traceability for components used to construct a wiring harness is3 ?, }5 k' d2 s4 x8 y$ d
not possible at an end-product factory location. This program can
! g0 W/ v' P3 m+ m5 _' Tbe used to provide this traceability. Each wiring harness is normally
& Q5 p; Z/ h* ?/ u3 Tconstructed in accordance with a harness diagram and is generally
0 R0 j e0 p$ R' U( Y: ?designed for a specific application that is indicated on a diagram( z! C# x$ A) Y q* P
or carton marking. These wiring harnesses are not intended for( x4 _' ]2 u8 i$ [9 q8 \( V/ z, s
field installation. An assembly consisting solely of a cord set, power" ]0 x, M. ?$ e7 E) ^# }3 l. i" O
supply cord or power supply cord attached to an appliance such as
* C9 E0 Y( C- S$ ga motor is not eligible for coverage under this program.: N5 G" q- Z4 w" X
Method of traceability
& g3 ^& }) n4 ^) x: oAn off-site fabricator assembles a wiring harness in accordance with9 b( h1 t/ M8 M+ G0 y
a harness diagram, print or other specification from an end-product% x) w( V" J/ q0 A1 J$ m3 e3 M6 y& N
manufacturer that details construction elements and components
; e5 N7 M. x2 p L; N# jto be used in assembling a harness. A harness manufacturer* t$ A6 B/ V9 }, c: g# I
will assemble a harness in accordance with these specifications
6 _3 O U1 G6 T/ d6 i( i5 }and, provided that a wiring harness is in compliance with these: y: r/ |' \& h. ^
specifications, it may be shipped with the UL Mark. Traceability for
4 C) w9 q4 ~; R: }# _these construction elements is further determined at an end-product6 I4 g3 T1 d, O- Z p$ O
manufacturing location and involves verifying that these features! t0 z. P, @: M. G4 u! u0 q' ?+ b
comply with an end-product Follow-Up Services procedure.
