This program provides traceability for wiring harnesses that are5 \) B# b, q" Z/ L4 D
assembled at off-site locations and intended for use as factory' @3 t. N: G9 N$ i$ u; F& j
installed components at an end-product manufacturing facility. They
- h' D# K) B+ n& t2 d- U$ uare defined as components consisting of two or more wires joined
' u; D$ i8 Q9 V R M$ U8 s1 @electrically and/or mechanically, and may include connectors, plugs,
1 m: w w2 E7 [, ^strain reliefs, splices, etc. When assembled at an off-site location,9 n) H% n# N- J* w
traceability for components used to construct a wiring harness is; c1 x1 p3 y" k. S
not possible at an end-product factory location. This program can9 m, E$ j" j/ s. b
be used to provide this traceability. Each wiring harness is normally
3 T# `& n; `9 g3 L3 Q4 p \constructed in accordance with a harness diagram and is generally
5 g6 X! x/ Z/ g$ odesigned for a specific application that is indicated on a diagram
; r6 B# ]" T/ K7 W3 J. Eor carton marking. These wiring harnesses are not intended for
4 n, T0 Y- h6 J& s9 |7 |' q ~field installation. An assembly consisting solely of a cord set, power
" a# s+ a: f% C' c( Qsupply cord or power supply cord attached to an appliance such as
9 O# _2 r; ? y7 O$ [* Ia motor is not eligible for coverage under this program.

An off-site fabricator assembles a wiring harness in accordance with
( f2 A4 R! q! }8 R( |4 ?8 Ka harness diagram, print or other specification from an end-product0 J* G4 p+ \2 F5 D4 ?
manufacturer that details construction elements and components1 \7 N) B9 a4 D) N, M3 l% f
to be used in assembling a harness. A harness manufacturer
! k; ^7 b! L, N3 }. ?) h) V/ twill assemble a harness in accordance with these specifications' u' d6 o9 N1 `0 \
and, provided that a wiring harness is in compliance with these. a: c4 x8 C) q5 X, Z0 l& U& i8 w
specifications, it may be shipped with the UL Mark. Traceability for
