This program provides traceability for wiring harnesses that are( n: [, e! R u& ^. m3 z; B
assembled at off-site locations and intended for use as factory: M. y2 d8 d# J( `4 b7 u4 o
installed components at an end-product manufacturing facility. They+ z0 F/ G- z* W9 d3 }3 C" }/ K: l; ~
are defined as components consisting of two or more wires joined
+ e7 _ `. t) M% |/ Z1 relectrically and/or mechanically, and may include connectors, plugs,8 U3 o& {2 T/ B z; N- I
strain reliefs, splices, etc. When assembled at an off-site location,/ i1 f: Z) N2 a2 g* X$ T0 D
traceability for components used to construct a wiring harness is
4 ~: G; E8 S( m, O4 jnot possible at an end-product factory location. This program can
( B6 g- \6 m( Z) k8 \be used to provide this traceability. Each wiring harness is normally
' s4 R# J$ I2 }: Nconstructed in accordance with a harness diagram and is generally( C+ n7 E9 d7 y- V1 t% L
designed for a specific application that is indicated on a diagram
9 t T) o! I6 l+ Kor carton marking. These wiring harnesses are not intended for3 g, B# C# `, n' z# B+ h& _
field installation. An assembly consisting solely of a cord set, power9 u1 Y H: ~4 b, l5 B
supply cord or power supply cord attached to an appliance such as
1 K! Z' y5 @% _& ia motor is not eligible for coverage under this program.

An off-site fabricator assembles a wiring harness in accordance with, w* { \/ B0 ]
a harness diagram, print or other specification from an end-product% S% u& O3 h! x: w) z
manufacturer that details construction elements and components, H' w' R. b" }( e' Y
to be used in assembling a harness. A harness manufacturer

; z9 I! |$ u( V$ Xand, provided that a wiring harness is in compliance with these
