installed components at an end-product manufacturing facility. They
5 f9 f d0 d$ U( K* v) zare defined as components consisting of two or more wires joined7 V0 j* j, v+ E
electrically and/or mechanically, and may include connectors, plugs,
3 K J* X$ }$ y' vstrain reliefs, splices, etc. When assembled at an off-site location,& v: m6 s& y. Z' Z5 e' [' h) U! x
traceability for components used to construct a wiring harness is# J y, m8 q8 B1 }! R
not possible at an end-product factory location. This program can. I+ q: F6 i7 W% m' u3 g, v
be used to provide this traceability. Each wiring harness is normally
6 J* M, [& M' c1 S3 K, qconstructed in accordance with a harness diagram and is generally
- Y$ O1 i2 x7 D8 R: L+ c. @1 B* Ydesigned for a specific application that is indicated on a diagram7 t, b& s2 ^1 T$ a/ m! W
or carton marking. These wiring harnesses are not intended for
! m, E, j5 B& W# tfield installation. An assembly consisting solely of a cord set, power
- ~6 {. s, Z# q9 Usupply cord or power supply cord attached to an appliance such as( C& ]7 z- s+ x' @! `6 |
a motor is not eligible for coverage under this program.

( v6 O7 E- a2 X- b- uAn off-site fabricator assembles a wiring harness in accordance with
q3 `" o5 O& ~1 |- za harness diagram, print or other specification from an end-product7 e2 Z" K7 o* ?: z
manufacturer that details construction elements and components
( y5 Q+ q* _+ P3 M: i! y" dto be used in assembling a harness. A harness manufacturer- D& }8 \$ {7 v8 r
will assemble a harness in accordance with these specifications8 z! G# |0 t; G2 o
and, provided that a wiring harness is in compliance with these
0 _$ E+ W" g0 ]; o$ \4 zspecifications, it may be shipped with the UL Mark. Traceability for
0 {5 z4 `1 g* z9 v: H/ W& \. y. Othese construction elements is further determined at an end-product9 i. t: Y" n& S6 F
manufacturing location and involves verifying that these features. N c/ N/ Z8 d- |8 E2 J
comply with an end-product Follow-Up Services procedure.
