This program provides traceability for wiring harnesses that are
8 ]2 j6 ~8 |1 C* Massembled at off-site locations and intended for use as factory# t- M5 \6 d/ p
installed components at an end-product manufacturing facility. They
+ B% b9 c$ H6 i* `) B' O- u, j! nare defined as components consisting of two or more wires joined! l6 m/ p( U* S' l: ~; Q% a( p2 w( Q
electrically and/or mechanically, and may include connectors, plugs,
+ ~0 e1 x! C5 Jstrain reliefs, splices, etc. When assembled at an off-site location,$ L; I. S* @: e( f! W& g
traceability for components used to construct a wiring harness is$ O4 J$ z4 U$ `* q6 ~9 W
not possible at an end-product factory location. This program can; t$ F% j F# H$ B% v! H
be used to provide this traceability. Each wiring harness is normally7 n" Y: F' b" T0 Z
constructed in accordance with a harness diagram and is generally- T* t! c' p4 }
designed for a specific application that is indicated on a diagram
, B. t S: p; Q& L% Uor carton marking. These wiring harnesses are not intended for9 n, c% V; u0 F& L0 R8 |
field installation. An assembly consisting solely of a cord set, power: s0 @+ w X. x, S
supply cord or power supply cord attached to an appliance such as) B6 w" w. J4 \3 ]' C0 O. V4 M/ e
a motor is not eligible for coverage under this program.

; U2 B( P" b8 R1 `; _3 m- s9 ^) m: ~a harness diagram, print or other specification from an end-product8 |% o0 b! o% q3 H3 }9 M
manufacturer that details construction elements and components
* a1 I2 d5 R8 c! `" u$ S j( yto be used in assembling a harness. A harness manufacturer
- r. y+ i1 r W3 Xwill assemble a harness in accordance with these specifications: |* k* h$ {1 A8 U* c
and, provided that a wiring harness is in compliance with these+ f B9 L6 ] A7 W& ^7 ~- l. h! l
specifications, it may be shipped with the UL Mark. Traceability for! \0 n" Z; a1 |8 R* F- Y1 I) {4 o
these construction elements is further determined at an end-product" w0 N7 f5 X+ w
manufacturing location and involves verifying that these features
