are defined as components consisting of two or more wires joined
?$ m- L5 m2 A* k9 lelectrically and/or mechanically, and may include connectors, plugs,
/ W& k3 D# F1 a. E l# Istrain reliefs, splices, etc. When assembled at an off-site location,
* {3 ~* o6 j4 J: ?0 R5 Utraceability for components used to construct a wiring harness is
4 S- E8 q) d, W* I9 Z4 knot possible at an end-product factory location. This program can
7 B; ~- e2 f: c, e6 Y- ?) ^* Gbe used to provide this traceability. Each wiring harness is normally: d, F I! m# l( ?/ a# F$ N; v
constructed in accordance with a harness diagram and is generally) J- R, a9 ~; F5 I+ n/ e
designed for a specific application that is indicated on a diagram
" F0 T' ]0 U# G* ?# c2 zor carton marking. These wiring harnesses are not intended for
" b5 q$ s* W! T% @1 Ufield installation. An assembly consisting solely of a cord set, power
& z7 r4 G6 c$ G* f1 dsupply cord or power supply cord attached to an appliance such as1 }! C" a7 Z/ F) o$ h V% Z' g
a motor is not eligible for coverage under this program.8 \* h& D; j8 R$ U8 V2 t' \
Method of traceability
$ R( Q4 B, M" K1 x6 AAn off-site fabricator assembles a wiring harness in accordance with" F+ }5 \2 E4 S! S
a harness diagram, print or other specification from an end-product6 E% z! y0 q4 Z3 V+ S' k) L
manufacturer that details construction elements and components
3 v8 u7 a7 S) V4 n$ n5 f* bto be used in assembling a harness. A harness manufacturer
# r$ j4 H! B4 Q6 X; d/ uwill assemble a harness in accordance with these specifications/ I0 g9 s5 m+ ~8 g9 O& _! Q
and, provided that a wiring harness is in compliance with these" X& J& c% E t! b- S% j# @7 H# B
specifications, it may be shipped with the UL Mark. Traceability for
- r+ j6 b/ {8 fthese construction elements is further determined at an end-product
( Q ?( c* m# }manufacturing location and involves verifying that these features6 J$ b0 N* R1 V# @
comply with an end-product Follow-Up Services procedure.
