This program provides traceability for wiring harnesses that are: p( b# A, a: P
assembled at off-site locations and intended for use as factory
% H2 \8 r$ A' o' `% P9 Z2 kinstalled components at an end-product manufacturing facility. They
# U3 Z) ?3 q0 W8 H) G+ w* Hare defined as components consisting of two or more wires joined) J5 `) Q$ D/ l9 [! d' S
electrically and/or mechanically, and may include connectors, plugs,9 O: O8 @! y2 B7 O, q2 A
strain reliefs, splices, etc. When assembled at an off-site location,. T* ~/ \7 _" E' e
traceability for components used to construct a wiring harness is1 f: Z* V- w8 q3 l0 A
not possible at an end-product factory location. This program can+ U) ~' P& V- R7 ?5 h j6 w
be used to provide this traceability. Each wiring harness is normally
; ]. g+ C+ m! Oconstructed in accordance with a harness diagram and is generally
0 L( `. v1 p0 t/ N. mdesigned for a specific application that is indicated on a diagram
: ?1 |# l8 L: \+ R1 B* i0 Ior carton marking. These wiring harnesses are not intended for
% K9 z( t2 P4 M, y' j+ cfield installation. An assembly consisting solely of a cord set, power
4 P5 R/ \. ~0 O+ p" _supply cord or power supply cord attached to an appliance such as
+ _$ v$ D8 ~& D3 K: l4 la motor is not eligible for coverage under this program.

An off-site fabricator assembles a wiring harness in accordance with: y7 _; u3 t. r) O7 g2 X$ A
a harness diagram, print or other specification from an end-product
! P4 Z: @# M& G8 mmanufacturer that details construction elements and components8 o: j" l+ t. u% H% u
to be used in assembling a harness. A harness manufacturer
5 h: E, Y+ {6 F, _5 X0 Uwill assemble a harness in accordance with these specifications
7 U& J# U/ C+ b3 gand, provided that a wiring harness is in compliance with these. s' K- a3 F2 A/ _* z
specifications, it may be shipped with the UL Mark. Traceability for
) I U" r% H- H! pthese construction elements is further determined at an end-product- b% C! |6 g9 C j# d/ x
manufacturing location and involves verifying that these features3 a$ Q4 f# P2 f1 X+ M9 K
comply with an end-product Follow-Up Services procedure.
