1.1 These requirements cover household cooking equipment that is floor or cabinet supported,: h3 e" g+ a1 J, e& w6 Z* ]$ G9 f
wall-mounted, counter mounted, or combinations thereof, rated 600 V or less, for installation in

5 G+ X5 M) D# E1.2 These requirements also cover ventilating hoods that are provided as an integral part of the cooking7 J9 K/ Q; p9 Y! a
equipment, or that are separately supported on the building structure but arranged for factory-provided
/ e& a5 W5 t! ~: O6 S# F, a/ W0 j( Uelectrical connection to the cooking equipment with which they are intended to be used.: W5 Y# N+ F9 J2 B5 _
1.3 These requirements do not cover commercial cooking appliances.0 c D$ Z* F& a e
1.4 These requirements do not cover special types of household cooking appliances. However, if such

judged on the basis of compliance with the requirements in this standard, insofar as they apply, and O/ u! D8 ^) }2 D0 H
further appropriate examination and tests in accordance with the applicable requirements for electric9 B H; I% L& `# W' v! X
heating appliances. These requirements do not cover all tests required on household cooking appliances2 V% r; D* N" }- a/ q

1.5 For the purpose of these requirements, cooking equipment includes ranges, ovens, surface6 i! P+ c2 I% V3 b Y7 b9 } |
assemblies, or combinations thereof. A range is considered to be a combination of a surface assembly; }+ f" z) y# y$ k7 w
with one or more ovens. Wall-mounted cooking equipment is considered to be those appliances intended
* O9 U, z- B b3 Kfor mounting in or on a wall or other vertical surface of a building or cabinet. Counter-mounted cooking
' K1 c7 V, E" iequipment is considered to be those appliances intended for mounting in or on a counter or other* F! T& ?3 o9 O2 R& y: h: b v
horizontal surface of a building or cabinet.
5 {# O& m- e a5 k5 l1.6 In the following text, a requirement that applies only to one, two, or three of the classes of equipment

or injury to persons shall be evaluated using appropriate additional component and end-product
