3 Terms and definitions

7 Marking and instructions5 b% N( U9 B9 D! e1 `
7.1 Replace the last dashed item in the first paragraph by the following:
2 z# O$ R, |5 [6 m– symbol IEC 60417-5180 (2003-02), for class III appliances. This marking is not+ s5 X( _1 x+ v5 p5 I' y! q
necessary for appliances operated only by batteries (primary batteries or secondary
) u8 {. H, p0 O; |* Pbatteries recharged outside of the appliance) or appliances powered by rechargeable6 s1 L% y( ]0 M* {, a' q
batteries recharged in the appliance.
2 c7 r5 @9 W2 u% l, l  n1 }0 f3 AAdd the following new subclause:
$ d1 Z2 k4 B( i0 ~7 w: w7.12.9 For each language, the instructions specified in 7.12 and from 7.12.1 to 7.12.8 shall. I1 r9 i1 H3 u' X
appear together before any other instructions supplied with the appliance. Alternatively, these4 V8 m% W' X6 v: Q9 p
instructions may be supplied with the appliance separately from any functional use booklet.

or on request from the user in a format such as a DVD.

The signal words WARNING, CAUTION, DANGER if in the Latin alphabet shall be in# U  y: V. U7 V) h/ L9 V
uppercase having a height not less than

– 2,0 mm for portable appliances with a printable surface of less than 10 cm2; and

: M* A* n9 j3 |# [NOTE A height of 3,5 mm is similar to Arial 14 pt, 3,0 mm is similar to 12 pt Arial and 2,0 mm is similar to 8 pt

8 ^9 M2 S3 V/ Z& {6 F; u# SUppercase letter of the text explaining the signal word shall be no smaller than 1,6 mm, with

Countries that do not use the Latin alphabet need to specify the minimum size of the script to* F8 H+ w- f, g
be used taking into account what is specified for the Latin alphabet.

either raised above or have a depth below the surface of at least 0,25 mm.

for 15 s with a piece of cloth soaked with water and again for 15 s with a piece of cloth
: m; K1 C) N/ {1 ?- [4 X% Gsoaked with petroleum spirit. The petroleum spirit to be used for the test is aliphatic solvent

8 Protection against access to live parts' F  A/ d" r! [1 X  f
8.1.3 Replace the note by the following.& r3 n- p' }3 S  x! E& }
If a single switching action is obtained by a switching device, the switching device shall$ m+ t& b4 f! u: J" s( U( V
provide full disconnection and the clearances for full disconnection specified in 20.1.5.3 of, V+ t* H' o) R! u' A; j5 k
IEC 61058-1:2000 shall be obtained from Table 22 of IEC 61058-1:2000 using the next higher

Compliance is checked by inspection and by manual test.% c+ `2 l/ R/ D6 a* S& h3 m
13 Leakage current and electric strength at operating temperature# t# D$ Z; y, _/ ]/ X
13.2 Replace the first paragraph by the following:
" \4 Z# ^2 g- B+ w( DThe leakage current is measured by means of the circuit described in Figure 4 of
* E* V0 F7 K2 j- bIEC 60990:1999. For class 0I appliances and class I appliances, except parts of class II- z) W" K2 J) [6 t- ^4 X: j  o
construction, C may be replaced by a low impedance ammeter responding to the rated1 B  b. a* E# c
frequency of the appliance.; w2 A% W% V$ O% ~
19 Abnormal operation' R3 T3 z5 l. r6 V0 ~
19.1 Add the following to the penultimate paragraph of the test specification:$ y' ~1 [# Z* Z. x, R
If the control performs more than one function, only that aspect of the control under
' d2 f9 p: B. T- ], rconsideration is rendered inoperative. Other functions of the control may continue to operate
* }" x; @3 h" r$ E% cnormally.& b! ?, o9 q" v/ o0 J5 n/ c3 h) H9 Z
19.7 In the third paragraph of the test specification, replace “class P2” by “class S2 or S3”.1 P* p+ T' |. x% T4 V  ]; t8 J0 X
19.11.3 Replace the text of the test specification but not the note, by the following.$ c  @: g9 ?5 t4 [
If the appliance incorporates a protective electronic circuit that operates to ensure
; o  Z  _$ c  O& s( S7 W8 J: Rcompliance with Clause 19, the appliance is tested as follows:
1 l- R, X+ J" ]  i' ~7 W- bA fault as indicated in a) to g) of 19.11.2 shall be incorporated in the protective electronic" ^/ H' r: J/ X2 o* V0 x
circuit either before the appliance is started or at any point in time after the appliance is3 l2 I' W& F( |' w( w
started so that the most unfavourable conditions of the test are applied.. Y" i$ r: Z- m& u0 X% o1 g5 G
If the appliance is able to operate after the fault in the protective electronic circuit is1 A5 V* z6 G+ a2 N
incorporated, then the appliance is further tested as follows.
$ N# [4 ]& `4 ~9 O0 U4 z( MFor appliances for continuous operation the appliance is operated until steady conditions are, F- x( f, ?  l1 u, }8 l4 d7 r# S
reached. Then the relevant test of Clause 19 is repeated.
$ `: Y9 J$ z3 J+ x8 E+ R- i1 `. QOther appliances are operated for one cycle of operation. Then the relevant test of Clause 19

19.11.4.2 Replace the test specification but not the note, by the following:" {  m+ y' D% E% _7 _
The appliance is subjected to radiated fields in accordance with IEC 61000-4-3.
+ y1 ~  z- X& f- @; M* k2 aThe frequency ranges tested shall be:; |$ H& c8 {- O& K
– 80 MHz to 1 000 MHz, test level 3;/ H/ ?3 h' K* [" K" g2 [; [$ u/ x
– 1,4 GHz to 2,0 GHz, test level 3;
- A( V& l* p% |* n* k3 K' [9 ^3 Z0 A– 2,0 GHz to 2,7 GHz, test level 2.
