DESCRIPTION OF ISSUE:

packs) when the battery charger is evaluated under the Standard as part of either an end' s. {% M% {& ]
product investigation or part of an Accessory Listing investigation?; O# H# f& ~0 Z2 b: o
APPLICATION GUIDELINE:; \+ Y, P: m' C
The following are general construction and performance guidelines., P- `$ O, k! N7 A- O6 p! ^7 k
Construction: The following considerations should be given to battery chargers (and packs)7 J! A3 v# f; Y! G, }. ?3 ~: R0 U
during the construction evaluation.' m0 H% p" A+ i
a. A marking should be provided on the battery charger indicating the specific model
5 s3 {$ F) Y! Dof ITE for which the battery charger is to be used;: Q) c: W5 w& N/ k2 E
b. The charger should be marked to indicate the battery pack (mfg./type/rating) for
4 e9 t: [$ k- Q9 Y+ U7 xwhich the battery charger is to be used;

! J8 J* d( T. ?" `$ z/ A) ]  jc. The battery charger and battery pack constructions should be controlled in the UL
+ V$ d. D$ `% Y0 }0 r7 A: h7 B5 bFollow-up Procedure." ?* f" q- v) d: d+ L/ \
Performance: The following considerations should be given to the performance test program7 ?- Y9 y8 g8 S
established for battery chargers:1 P$ p7 Z8 C/ u: h; F6 H

9 L2 C0 X+ W7 E: b3 x( ca. For external stand-alone battery chargers that have the capability of supplying ITE. p; W& K  T1 t" x
with power, a Heating Test (sub-clause 4.5) should be conducted with the battery( g; V$ O# W* I: Q* R- F$ k- \
charger supplying the ITE load. Discharged battery packs should be replaced with fully
2 L$ R* I( n& q/ E' `8 T$ ]0 Pcharged battery packs until thermal equilibrium is achieved;7 E' m1 V; W/ H7 m% @' u5 V
b. For all battery charger circuits, a Heating Test (sub-clause 4.5) should be2 n  o' N4 u4 r. b% r' Q4 _/ v
conducted with the battery charger charging battery packs that have been fully
- ~9 l' V+ S3 Vdischarged;0 N5 L) w$ z3 E- ^
c. If the battery charging circuit is supplied by a transformer, a Transformer Overload
6 v" V7 ?+ D6 R; m; d, n(C1) Test should be conducted on the transformer that supplies the charging circuit.3 y& r8 w% n2 X" v, o. n$ j" W
d. An Abnormal Operation Test program (per Sub-clauses 4.3.8 and 5.3.6) should be; V2 S; x2 c8 \+ S1 ?: j
designed anticipating possible foreseeable fault conditions, including a short circuit of9 _6 }$ x; c2 S( j4 f
the battery charger output (if user accessible) and reverse polarity testing of the
3 M6 U. j3 H# d  f& Hcharger input (if the battery charger input connector is not polarized).
, r+ v0 V, P$ G5 B3 IRATIONALE:. g% O$ o- N3 C
Battery chargers evaluated under this Standard introduce some unique considerations into
$ U4 [1 }- h/ e5 Z3 jequipment evaluations. Battery chargers are typically designed for specific size (power) battery( _0 V. k* ]2 {; g$ t; L2 A
packs and use of battery packs other than that specified by the manufacturer could create a
5 E' h2 n" W! W/ L3 Qhazard. Therefore, it is prudent to require correlation marking between charger unit and battery
: g! q6 d  g4 c1 y' ^( {+ lpack.
! h  Z+ r/ \2 I! @1 B. g1 w& \4 WBattery charger circuits typically are supplied power by a transformer. During the charging cycle,. k( Y6 S; w! |2 v: ~8 Q
the transformer may be subjected to a different set of thermal conditions than experienced# s, G0 K6 g1 f! Y: J) L  S
during other normal load testing, and it is more likely that a transformer supplying the charger& H0 }; Y6 K' p6 s
circuit will be subjected to an overload condition. Therefore, requiring a transformer overload

需要管控電池, 且需要指定電池的型號及廠家, 還有在Heating Test及Input Test需要用到電池, 但我的battery charger并不打算連同電池一起銷售呀, 且也目前沒有跟此battery charger搭配的電池.5 v1 [* U$ x- o6 @
請問這樣合理嗎?請大家討論下.

解決方案一. 你在申請ul60950時壓根就不要提功能是Battery Charger,申請Power Sullply就好了,因為在申請Power Sullply和Battery Charger雖然用同一個標準來評估,但是針對不同用法要求是不一樣的;8 v" l6 K2 K- v# I( t+ Q8 R
解決方案二. 如果你一定要以Battery Charger來申請,那是一定要管控電池型號規格的了,同時輸出端需加极性保護,好像可以不控制廠家的,這點你可以和認證公司溝通一下應為可行的.

一般来说Battery Charger是以申请UL1310 or UL1012为主,但若一定要申请UL 60950-1,则会依照PAG的要求,是必须控制锂电池的厂家型号,其他类的充电电池会控制规格,并且需搭配电池做测试

經跟UL工程師討論, 最終需要在Label及使用手冊中管控電池的廠家及型號, 但電池必須是UL 2054的Listing的電池.

充电器嘛,在使用说明书或铭牌中当然要写明适用的电池信息啦,电池型号那么多,消费者不知道,那就要写明是什么厂家生产的什么型号的电池了。这样防止用户随便给不适用电池充电带来危险。

我覺得這個問題有爭議, 因為我們再做ATX Power時也不會去考量它最終會用在何種環境下,如果到時發生了問題這樣的責任也很難劃分是ATX Power的問題還是其它PC里面的零件問題.那么這個也跟battery charger不搭配電池銷售一樣.

ATX Power是属于半成品类,最终还是要与系统再做评估,与充电器的状况是不一样的

那我們的筆記本用的Adapter也可以給電池充電, 但我們也不會去評估這顆Adapter是否會搭配何種電池.

这也许是应为充放电的管理电路在笔记本上,而不在Adapter上!

但是给笔记本或手机申请时那个电源并没有写明是充电器,而是写电源适配器。
