3.1 Indication of origin and cable identification
$ Y |$ w. m* U* Z6 @' eCables shall be provided with an indication of the manufacturer, which shall be either an
! M6 \7 r% l, E0 r" Oidentification thread or a repetitive marking of the manufacturer's name or trade-mark.) p, O1 X2 I# a+ O, _% V- E' A
Cables for use at a conductor temperature exceeding 70 °C shall also be marked either with
3 D# k; e5 Q, q+ m$ G; l; {% ^the code designation or with the maximum conductor temperature.) k3 G4 e# r! _$ Y( E6 [! R+ Y
Marking may be by printing or by reproduction in relief on or in the insulation or sheath.: r3 [) C$ r7 W1 Y2 N
3.1.1 Continuity of marks
4 H* g: A# l0 F# D! S; i, e- }/ vEach specified mark shall be regarded as continuous if the distance between the end of the
" p: u3 k- t$ J7 f; }mark and the beginning of the next identical mark does not exceed
7 X9 h; l7 r3 w; r/ C4 ~8 C– 550 mm if the marking is on the outer sheath of the cable;: F: J' R8 Q( T" N( p4 F6 P
– 275 mm if the marking is
1 U3 n+ q$ \6 {' Q8 B& ga) on the insulation of an unsheathed cable;
' j2 c, I2 A$ Qb) on the insulation of a sheathed cable;
N9 J. ^ F8 N! E+ Dc) on a tape within a sheathed cable.

Printed markings shall be durable. Compliance with this requirement shall be checked by the

3.3 Legibility
4 m) S. j$ D9 o& b) e7 \All markings shall be legible.5 \$ e7 }1 s* @4 t9 w
The colours of the identification threads shall be easy to recognize or easily made
; s+ g' s6 N% j! G2 I* qrecognizable, if necessary, by cleaning with petrol or other suitable solvent. |
