8.2.1 A polymeric material used for electrical insulation or enclosure of live parts shall have a flame class' y# [5 |1 n4 v1 a' F
rating of HB, V-2, V-1, V-0, VTM-2, VTM-1, or VTM-0 in accordance with the requirements of the Standard$ R6 p [# C. g' Z2 I, q8 D3 C
for Tests for Flammability of Plastic Materials for Parts in Devices and Appliances, UL 94. The flame class
8 c# B3 f, l9 ~rating of the material shall be judged at the minimum thickness employed at the walls and barriers in the$ \$ p6 s! f# Q# t: S8 G& f
device which are critical to the functioning of the insulation or enclosure of the device.6 L5 w. E5 E0 {* L, Y
Exception No. 1: Insulating materials employed in a self-contained receptacle shall instead comply with* }3 w8 a- s3 V; N$ g

Exception No. 2: A polymeric material that complies with either the 12 mm or 20 mm (3/4-inch) flame
p6 s& n' R6 c$ Uflammability test described in UL 746C, need not have a flammability class rating.
