To my understanding, this clause is taking about as below:
3 n* m* l: y$ ~. _, A$ T5 Y2 q( l/ g8 x: ?: p
1) The first sentence:2 p% U5 P* z9 ]
At the very beginning, the test voltage is selected as the "rated voltage" given on the rating plate.
* Z) ~3 s) d' j2 N3 y
1 y. S: B) c ~% e$ w2) Second sentence:
% h( `" J& p% d. L" ^With the test volatge setting as the rated voltage, the actual power is checked against with the "rated power" on the rating plate. If the "actual power" is greater than the "rated power", then the test voltage will be adjusted with the square root of the factor for multiplying the power input. Perhaps, an example may help to show my point as below:2 w* \5 H, {: h. n' S6 p
- the rating plate is marked with "rated voltage 240Vac" and "rated power 240W"# J! n9 Q$ v) b7 g9 O& }
- according to the 1st sentence, the test volatge is set as 240Vac" D7 S/ N$ o, U! N
- according to the 2nd sentence, the power is measured. Say for example, the power is measured as 250W. Then the test volatge will be then adjusted with the below factor:# r- z! @8 v& V
factor = square root (240W/250W) = 0.98
+ Z9 {3 @ {8 R; {( o7 N+ s6 A) U# c) E Z - the final test votage is thus given as 240V x 0.98 = 235.2V
, Q8 P" T9 r( a X" v7 S f1 pWith the test voltageas 235Vac, the product is therefore tested at its rated power.
