Cords shall conform to the following requirements:
5 ^ Q5 z* n9 b3 _4 ya) Cords shall have a thickness (smallest dimension) of 1,5 mm or more when tested according to 8.20( V. ^' e" K& E0 j. j- b' ~+ p% z
(cord thickness). This does not apply to ribbons.
/ ?/ J9 [2 g5 b9 Ub) The free length of cords (e.g. on pull-along toys) which include attachments that can form nooses shall

not exceed 220 mm when stretched by a force of (25 ± 2) N; or7 F" b& m, f$ D' d3 r
when subjected to a force of (25 ± 2) N, separate into parts not exceeding 220 mm when stretched5 x- g4 T) t+ q( G0 f
by a force of (25 ± 2) N. It shall be possible to join the parts together after they have been separated% I9 _2 W4 r% e6 s9 N" \
without altering the characteristics of the joints (see Figure 10).
2 W! h' Z) x. }" c. b4 q3 FThe free length of the cord shall be measured from the fixing point to the end of the cord or to the fixing* Z6 c# n0 k' W; \! J4 w( o& p+ ]% U
point on the other part of the toy. If the fixing point has the same shape or form as the cord, this part shall1 u) }* a# _# K8 _. |
be measured as a part of the entire cord (see Figure 11).
/ G R% J2 T# T( |9 J: Q- rc) The perimeter of any nooses on cords shall not exceed 380 mm when stretched by a force of (25 ± 2) N.
! f! p* o; P5 R, j/ H% cd) Toys with self-retracting cords shall have a mechanism recoil force less than 10 N.
4 W l8 w8 p( O, m7 V% Fe) Cords intended to be fixed across cradles, cots, perambulators etc., shall not exceed 750 mm when
. n) p* f- i/ F0 `# N0 R5 \! qstretched by a force of (25 ± 2) N, and their length under these conditions shall be not more than 40 % E* i$ n. z- F! L4 K# o7 M0 K6 ] X
