This program provides traceability for wiring harnesses that are
5 p+ r! O; d( L1 W, g: ?assembled at off-site locations and intended for use as factory7 e6 T. Q G3 b
installed components at an end-product manufacturing facility. They
( C6 P+ s: k% n3 n) [2 Z( j$ Gare defined as components consisting of two or more wires joined/ X' z6 @! `6 n- |1 z% b b# k+ Y
electrically and/or mechanically, and may include connectors, plugs,
/ F% p) L u2 _strain reliefs, splices, etc. When assembled at an off-site location,$ ~. r6 k3 z; s r+ m; _$ U
traceability for components used to construct a wiring harness is; B+ h5 M+ l, J
not possible at an end-product factory location. This program can2 A' z) o. p2 ?- ~& i
be used to provide this traceability. Each wiring harness is normally
) ?. w7 n3 l P: t) \" cconstructed in accordance with a harness diagram and is generally4 o' i6 c/ U+ q
designed for a specific application that is indicated on a diagram
* w7 M2 i9 s9 g* w; n# g) }1 F. \3 Wor carton marking. These wiring harnesses are not intended for6 i% u8 Y3 o- f( K8 M0 E: J
field installation. An assembly consisting solely of a cord set, power
+ \! ~ b, Q; Psupply cord or power supply cord attached to an appliance such as0 f$ n4 R A; `3 I$ p u7 T& _
a motor is not eligible for coverage under this program.

An off-site fabricator assembles a wiring harness in accordance with G) V2 \' l2 B! O
a harness diagram, print or other specification from an end-product
: M; Y+ V; P M, Lmanufacturer that details construction elements and components
) Q- l- g: {/ F$ Y: Z4 B' K Tto be used in assembling a harness. A harness manufacturer
s2 z4 k- }' t! P( ]will assemble a harness in accordance with these specifications9 E$ @" z% }4 x; [# Q
and, provided that a wiring harness is in compliance with these
3 ~4 u" F7 P! H' ^1 Zspecifications, it may be shipped with the UL Mark. Traceability for
. m% W% F4 ? j! P& Ythese construction elements is further determined at an end-product( Q% I" D/ R5 r' M6 H
manufacturing location and involves verifying that these features/ M3 x2 V7 d) _& ~1 O
comply with an end-product Follow-Up Services procedure.9 A5 c. L4 \8 I5 h1 U
The UL Recognized Component Mark on the smallest bundle or unit
