This program provides traceability for wiring harnesses that are

are defined as components consisting of two or more wires joined! r5 O6 @, z) L8 E, ]8 w) g$ u
electrically and/or mechanically, and may include connectors, plugs,
; {0 c1 `( K7 Rstrain reliefs, splices, etc. When assembled at an off-site location,2 c' w0 N0 ^- O9 d' G4 ]% s
traceability for components used to construct a wiring harness is

be used to provide this traceability. Each wiring harness is normally0 V( B. o! V' s4 z3 e' U
constructed in accordance with a harness diagram and is generally; o) y$ R5 d+ x9 V# Y
designed for a specific application that is indicated on a diagram

* ~3 L% ]; z% F/ V0 o* e: j! dfield installation. An assembly consisting solely of a cord set, power
& _+ I+ c, w) H3 i+ ?8 g1 D1 l. Csupply cord or power supply cord attached to an appliance such as
7 U1 n4 _9 w9 R |5 [' T8 `a motor is not eligible for coverage under this program.

An off-site fabricator assembles a wiring harness in accordance with- F2 P t" v, l! q; e
a harness diagram, print or other specification from an end-product
$ B& g* M. q3 U! Q6 zmanufacturer that details construction elements and components
; U- j3 ~$ m/ Nto be used in assembling a harness. A harness manufacturer
W4 y+ c1 ?: f+ ^will assemble a harness in accordance with these specifications
) w1 I0 L' D2 Y/ {4 z0 qand, provided that a wiring harness is in compliance with these x5 ?5 M5 r" z1 |7 d
specifications, it may be shipped with the UL Mark. Traceability for
' W" G% y; W4 t" S2 Rthese construction elements is further determined at an end-product
! ^" Y* t. K+ [manufacturing location and involves verifying that these features8 }! Q, d6 |& |! ?1 E
