assembled at off-site locations and intended for use as factory

are defined as components consisting of two or more wires joined
4 Z, c% K, k& Y, melectrically and/or mechanically, and may include connectors, plugs,
) M8 S0 |: a8 @' d; a7 \strain reliefs, splices, etc. When assembled at an off-site location,
2 U8 a2 c, i$ }, |- ]traceability for components used to construct a wiring harness is" H6 J9 f0 O: P* ?& V# R
not possible at an end-product factory location. This program can$ v" V% `" I4 j! G. B
be used to provide this traceability. Each wiring harness is normally
" S+ t1 Q; P% ~9 O0 Y T Vconstructed in accordance with a harness diagram and is generally. U4 k) p' @+ U5 }5 L2 ?2 C( @
designed for a specific application that is indicated on a diagram: n3 g& d! |. w& f8 w) _
or carton marking. These wiring harnesses are not intended for4 J9 S, i' M @ s$ E- C* C
field installation. An assembly consisting solely of a cord set, power" D0 k: {3 b! Q- Y
supply cord or power supply cord attached to an appliance such as
2 S" M, ^; H% v6 Z4 Ka motor is not eligible for coverage under this program.

5 D2 g. p+ e: h2 o6 jAn off-site fabricator assembles a wiring harness in accordance with
?' t, e0 e1 l- V+ O" p8 `a harness diagram, print or other specification from an end-product; D+ @/ }9 ^2 g# l- j n4 ~" b
manufacturer that details construction elements and components1 ]; e; L2 M9 u, R D! H
to be used in assembling a harness. A harness manufacturer: N# O% D! N' d/ W, N" Q p0 C9 t
will assemble a harness in accordance with these specifications
5 M7 _6 b1 N% \ s6 `$ w; c( Vand, provided that a wiring harness is in compliance with these
7 q, u7 b. Y' S4 f; b, gspecifications, it may be shipped with the UL Mark. Traceability for
5 t( r. m/ b Zthese construction elements is further determined at an end-product, Z! n: F4 k, w, a2 X
manufacturing location and involves verifying that these features; |. i0 i% O$ [& m N( j
comply with an end-product Follow-Up Services procedure.: q9 j4 x% p& i/ n" r3 V9 U
The UL Recognized Component Mark on the smallest bundle or unit
