23.5 The insulation of internal wiring that is subjected to the supply mains voltage shall withstand the electrical stress likely to occur in normal use.+ ]" f$ k( v: q* {+ \

The basic insulation shall be electrically equivalent to the basic insulation of cords complying with IEC 60227 or IEC 60245 or comply with the following electric strength test.. m4 q" ~ `( _, o& k; Y
A voltage of 2 000 V is applied for 15 min between the conductor and metal foil wrapped around the insulation. There shall be no breakdown.
% z# U' @9 w. M- sNOTE 1 If the basic insulation of the conductor does not fulfil one of these conditions, the conductor is considered to be bare.
- C! Q4 M: @8 n1 i) M, GNOTE 2 For class II construction, the requirements for supplementary insulation and reinforced insulation apply except that the sheath of a cord complying with IEC 60227 or IEC 60245 may provide supplementary insulation.
