following apply to the FUNCTIONAL EARTHING circuit:
$ D( g6 u3 J" O* ?4 y− the FUNCTIONAL EARTHING circuit shall be separated from parts at HAZARDOUS VOLTAGES in

4 P0 H5 _# C- n [- ^• DOUBLE INSULATION or REINFORCED INSULATION; or; x- ^% J9 I1 C" x$ Z' n# T
• a protectively earthed screen or another protectively earthed conductive part, separated
/ n( f, [) F d+ }5 ^! l# Z# A' ]- xfrom parts at HAZARDOUS VOLTAGES by at least BASIC INSULATION; and
: [0 U4 J! j! I+ d, a# j− it is permitted to connect the FUNCTIONAL EARTHING circuit to a protective earth terminal or" X6 H) ^) z! m3 ?
to a PROTECTIVE BONDING CONDUCTOR; and
2 Q* S1 [, P7 x: e2 W− wiring terminals to be used only for FUNCTIONAL EARTHING shall not be marked by the
) D/ Q/ ]: b1 N! i1 C4 E, w# Qsymbol (60417-IEC-5017) or by the symbol (60417-IEC-5019), except that, where a
: V. F2 Q* O! K6 {6 rwiring terminal is provided on a component (for example, a terminal block) or
( Y/ r- Q& F' lsubassembly, the symbol is permitted; and
4 M% i' u+ x- v% Q+ T7 b$ GNOTE Other markings such as one of the symbols, (IEC 60417-5018 (DB:2002-10)) or2 T3 J# _6 o* q$ L0 ]

• there are no requirements other than those in 3.1.9 regarding the termination of this
+ {; ~: a5 i# _! a1 [1 x' u- ^conductor at the equipment end.
& P, C, c- R; w7 [For equipment having a power supply cord where a conductor with green-and-yellow: v$ f. ~' U7 e" Q& _8 y. Y
insulation is used only to provide a FUNCTIONAL EARTHING connection:
4 ?; _4 W" N0 _( U− the equipment shall not be marked with the symbol , IEC 60417-5172 (2003-02); and5 I% Q# c! V% W4 B9 _
− the equipment may be marked with:5 l' o' U8 B5 c8 s
• the symbol , IEC 60417-5018 (2011-07); or
' k' U" B* U' }% x- ~# t6 ~/ _$ x7 i• the symbol , IEC 60417-6092 (2011-10).. K$ ~6 @* m: r/ G& f
These symbols shall not be used for CLASS I EQUIPMENT.
