10.1 Surge test
& e/ R% p/ C zThe insulation on CLASS II apparatus between ACCESSIBLE parts or parts connected to them and3 c# Y+ b6 N% b% w6 ?2 i
HAZARDOUS LIVE parts, shall withstand surges due to transients, caused for example by
& F& N5 L. \* M) z- l# p* B. }( i0 H8 vthunderstorms and entering the apparatus through the antenna TERMINAL.
; p8 I/ t1 }4 g" tCompliance is checked by the following test:
/ O& W0 Q3 Z% jThe insulation between& Z9 Q0 q1 ~+ W z6 p O+ a
– TERMINALS for the connection of antenna and MAINS supply TERMINALS, y1 } P* m! f5 X/ L( q, i# k+ Q' R
and between, V: v8 ^* E5 E) t
– MAINS supply TERMINALS and any other TERMINAL in case of apparatus providing supply
+ A+ b; m7 {$ {! t) z. svoltages to other apparatus with antenna TERMINALS,
6 c5 g! K" ^) J% ^; `0 ^: zis subjected to 50 discharges at a maximum rate of 12/min, from a 1 nF capacitor charged to+ |- S5 P; v8 U
10 kV in a test circuit, as shown in Figure 5a.% i2 c1 @) }/ I
NOTE During this test, the apparatus should not be energized.& n, [& K3 K$ _! C' E% {
After the test, the tested insulation shall comply with the requirements of 10.3.
