10.1 Surge test
4 U' T" M4 C; g8 @0 }* }/ cThe insulation on CLASS II apparatus between ACCESSIBLE parts or parts connected to them and& N5 r7 a' g3 z3 S
HAZARDOUS LIVE parts, shall withstand surges due to transients, caused for example by
: n9 u' ]6 m4 f- L! w! j/ f# Ethunderstorms and entering the apparatus through the antenna TERMINAL.
, ?# R: Y9 S5 B, g, r( z+ _Compliance is checked by the following test:
# L5 K, Z2 U: B6 u' F& q2 MThe insulation between
+ S+ Y6 [- G, f# G5 u8 e) d! z& X– TERMINALS for the connection of antenna and MAINS supply TERMINALS,
: C0 t# D" ^; ]+ ]1 b7 @/ f8 Jand between6 x" Q( ?7 i- S4 l7 U0 \0 N' ?/ U
– MAINS supply TERMINALS and any other TERMINAL in case of apparatus providing supply
3 m2 ^/ L* d& S& H1 o+ Q/ a$ G! }voltages to other apparatus with antenna TERMINALS,! j$ \9 r6 i$ S: U3 N( ?
is subjected to 50 discharges at a maximum rate of 12/min, from a 1 nF capacitor charged to
# }9 X* v* q' |9 q) y10 kV in a test circuit, as shown in Figure 5a.* s0 W% O4 ~5 u" {9 n! l
NOTE During this test, the apparatus should not be energized.
