We have noticed that certification bodies are treating products incorporating laser
% \! L( A3 h+ `* Kcomponents in different ways. We at SEMKO have always measured the laser emission from
; G1 J7 a) b( B+ ?the product when the laser component are installed and are in operation as in normal use of
+ \1 H( ], _' Ythe product. The laser emission is also measured when abnormal operation of the product is
( r! X( t" }- Vsimulated.
$ f" d/ q5 x6 ]6 Y6 C0 NWe are doing the measurements regardless whether the laser component, for instance a laser7 W8 K3 f3 u6 X! Y7 K9 f8 a
reader head, is separately "laser tested" or not.8 p$ O3 K- A1 q3 J
Decision:
4 N) s% f @1 a9 _7 G) jThe complete equipment shall comply with the IEC 60825 series of standards referenced as
. r- i, M$ y. c9 pnormative references in IEC 60950, 60950-1 or IEC 60065, as applicable.; |& T0 J+ }% A4 P/ \6 v7 X
If previously CB certified laser component is incorporated into the equipment, compliance is! h2 P1 g) r* S6 |' j5 k
checked by evaluation of the data of the laser component and the complete equipment and, if% C$ C) L5 q/ Z) r; e
necessary, by measurement.
