Question: In the horizontal safety function standard for degree of protection provided by1 I7 h- W" D& r& @4 y
enclosures (IP code), IEC 60529, a description of the dust is given in subclause
' e! W. c( H) P; G6 I13.4. However, in the transformer standard the description of the dust divagate a
2 u, L" @3 v# E. k# O: m( l/ V; C( nbit as the following wording is added: “and shall have a range of particle size
+ @( ^" }! ?. hdown to and including 1 +m with at least 50% by weight less than 5 +m”. This' t D# E! I$ N$ v2 o z
more precise description imply that dust in the dust chamber must be changed

can we use the dust specified in IEC 60529 also for transformers?- z3 h! C2 X- j5 s/ \1 y* K0 o. f1 B
Decision: The horizontal safety function standard IEC 60529 shall be followed, i.e. the dust# ~1 \' b! s6 g6 e9 y. R
specified in subclause 13.4 can be used.
