8 M$ g6 Z5 [$ T( t/ J7 vDecision: In principle apply the requirements given in IEC/EN 60825-1. However in order$ h: S: p9 P% o8 D" _+ G, V
to avoid expensive measurements, the luminaires provided with LEDs should be: k, {. k" h0 @- r2 u! f( H/ k1 ]
treated in the following:. _' F6 r" R1 _. ?: l+ x! o( x
- If the light intensity is low, i.e. from a conventional LED for indication or signalling
. I3 w4 t2 L2 W( g) ]8 C2 K& Ypurposes, the LED is most likely comparable with a laser of Class 1 according to6 z- B7 Z2 n. L# |2 N, G, \1 F
IEC/EN 60825-1 and consequently there is no need measurements. During the
% u4 Q2 m4 r$ a- j$ R; w Qjudgement the covers, optics and similar, which can be removed by hand, shall be
- k5 i+ J9 C) y' z% G' |: z# ^+ rremoved. In the TRF it is indicated that the light intensity has been judged to comply

from the LED module will not exceed the values given in IEC/EN 60825-1 for Class 1

- If such a declaration cannot be provided or if we are insecure on how to judge, the! K% ^3 `; O4 S

providing radiation according to Class 2 lasers, the luminaire shall be treated as a laser
