Question: The appliance for purifying water is equipped with an UV lamp (with its
( C+ L$ [' u' Kaccessories). The unit can be used with or without a constant water flowing (in6 [% y8 G0 \1 f. ?. }" A
accordance with the manual instructions). What should be the temperature of) b4 x: E1 b% a i8 }- w/ H! J7 M: L
the water during the thermal tests?
% y9 V* o& a" F1 n7 Q# uDecision: The applicable standard is IEC/EN 60335-1. The thermal tests have to be
7 v9 o) Q& }' E% |) Fcarried out according to clause 11 (heating) and clause 19 (abnormal( y k" H4 ]" l7 [' ?
conditions) of IEC/EN 60335-1. If according to the manual instructions the" j3 s4 {+ S7 K# `' h5 B; J
appliance can be used without water flowing, we have to consider this situation
# i" @- Y# R5 u- h. Aas worst case: all tests have to be performed without water flowing. At the1 q9 v( S0 R( _$ k
beginning of the tests, the water shall be at room temperature (25°C). If the
( l$ h S' ]! U" j7 W3 T' Nappliance is provided for use with water flowing only, the heating test (clause+ q I' V% |* w% f) y
