Question: The appliance for purifying water is equipped with an UV lamp (with its, |( D# F6 r2 u, {2 R$ `
accessories). The unit can be used with or without a constant water flowing (in
# s6 \6 P$ j! k4 F% c; F/ oaccordance with the manual instructions). What should be the temperature of, `6 o7 O" Q% J1 }4 d+ I$ n
the water during the thermal tests?
+ T- [4 b. y# W5 L+ V6 jDecision: The applicable standard is IEC/EN 60335-1. The thermal tests have to be" ?4 G! h, [; R8 H
carried out according to clause 11 (heating) and clause 19 (abnormal
- a$ ^' T% [7 b$ w8 O4 Zconditions) of IEC/EN 60335-1. If according to the manual instructions the* V+ R' d3 t" \" q9 i9 ~& X
appliance can be used without water flowing, we have to consider this situation( A# U6 Y- P& N$ V# ?
as worst case: all tests have to be performed without water flowing. At the
2 h$ l! c+ W2 M9 e# kbeginning of the tests, the water shall be at room temperature (25°C). If the" v6 S* r8 L8 |/ j
appliance is provided for use with water flowing only, the heating test (clause8 u0 h, N0 q' v+ Y' M
11) shall be started with water at room temperature (25°C) but flowing. For the8 ` I, U( J& t# _4 Z) p1 [
abnormal conditions test (clause 19), the water flowing has to be stopped
