Question: The appliance for purifying water is equipped with an UV lamp (with its
9 m! P* l1 T4 ?+ Eaccessories). The unit can be used with or without a constant water flowing (in( t) ]; t! l- [3 O R
accordance with the manual instructions). What should be the temperature of8 k' m1 e( h0 V+ k$ x& W! k
the water during the thermal tests?
( d% l2 g* U2 N8 z' [ ]% PDecision: The applicable standard is IEC/EN 60335-1. The thermal tests have to be
! P# W: c% q) \& |. j' z* U6 Icarried out according to clause 11 (heating) and clause 19 (abnormal
7 }; K1 d/ `" ~* mconditions) of IEC/EN 60335-1. If according to the manual instructions the
( y. `& e3 W) k: s+ ?appliance can be used without water flowing, we have to consider this situation
2 e% G. J( ~+ }3 _as worst case: all tests have to be performed without water flowing. At the
, J. R( V$ U9 [1 i9 }beginning of the tests, the water shall be at room temperature (25°C). If the
$ N! D$ q# y& E' x; I' W3 d8 Tappliance is provided for use with water flowing only, the heating test (clause
, f. V. E- Z& f) t3 D+ t11) shall be started with water at room temperature (25°C) but flowing. For the& `2 D! Q& }( `5 f+ o1 R
