Question:
What is the correct way for flexing hand-held appliances according to second paragraph of sub-clause 25.14 of IEC60335-2-23?
Is the Figure 1 correct? It is the method specified in the standard?
Figure 1:Flexing only one direction from the vertical position through an angle of 180°and back to the original position.
Figure 2:Flexing both direction (90°Right side + 90°Left side = 180°)
We hear some laboratories take the way of the Figure 1 and others, Figure 2.Therefore, clarification is needed.
Decision:
The test shall be conducted as specified in Figure 1 because the test is simulated with the power supply cord twisted around the appliances when storing. 180° 90° 90
