In Standard Sheet 7005-56-2, the dimension “L” is solely for holder design and is not to be gauged. If the G10q connector is provided according to the Figures 2, “without L(1) and without L(2)”, do you think that this construction is in conformity with IEC 60400 and IEC 60598-1? : X7 T; W+ j& m1 ?# _
Decision: - \% q% w1 w. ~
Yes, for the following reasons: in Standard Sheet 7005-56-2, the dimension “L” is indicated with the minimum value only, the maximum value could be infinite; it is not specified how long the lampholder part should be delimited by “L” dimension, it could be 0 mm; clause 8.2 of IEC 60400 – “The insertion of only one pin of the lamp (…..) or starter to the first point of contact shall be prevented. This requirement is not applicable to G10q holders”. This construction without additional protection around the connector is acceptable. The reason for accepting the first point of contact is based on the fact that this fit was developed before the development of IEC 60061 and IEC 60400, consequently, this fit does not follow the normal rules for accessibility to live
5 n+ I, R- F- N6 ~parts. This should be regarded as a “historic” fit having a good record of safety in service over many years.
