Question:
Equipment to check protection against drops of liquid - Figure 19 of IEC 61184-Bayonet lampholders and Figure 17 of IEC 60238-Edison screw lampholders - The holes of the test apparatus tend to be blocked frequently. Additional expenses and resources
are required to clear the blockage. Is there a better way to simulate the rainfall?
Decision:
To align the requirement to provide protection against drops of liquid (Figure 19-IEC 61184 and Figure 17-IEC60238) with the test device to verify protection against vertically falling water drops (drip box - Figure 3a - IEC 60529), all nozzles shall be cleaned after
each test.
