8 Z9 L% F. `5 v: O31.1 The power input to an appliance shall not be more than 105 percent of its marked rating.

2 C. v, G2 w; ~3 _8 @31.2 To determine whether an appliance complies with the requirement in 31.1, the power input is to be measured with the appliance at normal operating temperature under full-load conditions (if required for normal operation), and while connected to a supply circuit adjusted to be the highest of the following:
* q' n# M& H) n0 g) c( I& [% b$ v; k2 P# G" S0 c& S8 k
a) The marked voltage rating, or: h; F+ |0 B" }# F, h; r) p5 _
/ r* n0 ~! X" g b) The highest voltage of the applicable range of voltages specified in 53.1 if the marked voltage is within one of the voltage ranges indicated in 53.1.

If an appliance employs a nonmetallic element (such as carbon), the power input is to be determined for an unused element. |
