in order to avoid expensive measurements, luminaires provided with LEDs

" p- Y( A& Z" B: D" Y- If the light intensity is low, i.e. from a conventional LED for indication or signalling: O. A9 G9 T/ ?3 v7 M6 C7 @& [+ V2 j$ R
purposes, the LED is most likely comparable with a laser of Class 1 according to IEC/EN0 ?" n' }, O& @1 L# H1 V" D; s
60825-1 (*)-(#) and consequently there is no need for measurements. During the2 D' o- Z7 n; H9 w: x7 t1 |' K
judgement, the covers, optics and similar parts that can be removed by hand, shall be" ~8 X' F; G: t d
removed. In the TRF, it is indicated that the light intensity has been judged to comply

- In all other cases the luminaire manufacturer shall be asked to provide a declaration based3 s; U" o O0 L5 o5 L( Z8 d1 ?* ~
on relevant tests (e.g. from the LEDs manufacturer) showing that the radiation from the5 ^. C% b" ?0 ?: B, ?/ R% l; H
LED module does not exceed the values given in IEC/EN 60825-1 (*)-(#) for Class 1
2 Q7 U( L5 ^$ e& Cor1M lasers with or without optics. In the TRF, it is indicated that judgement is based on
; L7 p! H$ H/ N }manufacturer’s declaration.
. j8 d/ x& V" G; q% I- If such a declaration is not provided or if judgement not possible, the measurements# L9 ]6 i" e/ H! M! ]1 E
given in IEC/EN 60825-1 (*)-(#) shall be performed. In the TRF, it is indicated that

radiation according to Class 2 lasers, the luminaire shall be treated as a laser source
