Decision: Yes, provided that:: ?; |3 N' q3 b
(1) The LED circuit is verified according to IEC/EN 61347-2-2 (*) or IEC/EN5 j t; c1 o# f: m* R
61347-2-11. If the laser emits radiation in the wavelength range from 180 nm to 1
/ j& c' `2 E1 g- U; n9 \7 }3 umm, the LED shall also be tested according to IEC/EN 60825 –1 (Safety of laser
! R( r: l& h, e% |" }4 e7 |0 kproducts). Only LEDs classified as Class 1 lasers can be used without problems% T7 [8 O# K+ P2 s5 w
for lighting purposes without protection.$ s( W9 h7 _3 ?! G% ~/ d6 D4 ?
(2) The thermal tests required in Section 12 of IEC/EN 60598-1 are carried out as

correctly or shall inform the Testing Station about the trade mark, the type
9 I4 U5 n& y& {# R* |and the technical characteristics of the appropriate control gear. There can
! ]# r, K9 j% Vbe three different control gears: the type and the trade mark indicated by the
, X8 V: I% b3 R0 W3 w' A2 m; u6 lluminaire manufacturer; an electronic control gear clearly specified on the
5 G( |7 A9 O( }9 r2 b8 J8 iluminaire instructions; a ferromagnetic control gear. The tests shall be
! R+ Z: J1 V1 f) V+ f$ G2 `3 F ~carried out as required in Section 12 according to IEC/EN 60598-2-6 with8 _* A' W' A$ f3 d
the appropriate control gear.
