The apparatus covered by this standard is subdivided into categories. For each category, Y/ T D( q) z- @1 J

4.1 Category I: apparatus containing no electronic control circuitry." g' g# F, K" N: ~4 c% V* u! B
Examples: motor operated appliances, lighting toys, track sets without electronic control units,! d, w2 K& R v# ~2 F. i1 g
tools, heating appliances, UV and IR radiators and apparatus containing components such as
' u' M2 x: H2 X% G( q/ Nelectromechanical switches and thermostats.4 d* g5 ^, b- F8 Z' L
Electric circuits consisting of passive components (such as radio interference suppression$ @, q& r3 D& x/ ]9 h
capacitors or inductors, mains transformers and mains frequency rectifiers) are not considered

4.2 Category II: transformer toys, dual supply toys, mains powered motor operated appliances,/ x0 |# j( O x& N$ o) q

4.3 Category III: battery powered apparatus (with built-in batteries or external batteries),1 }9 u$ G& I) x9 k9 S" Z5 I8 P
which in normal use is not connected to the mains, containing an electronic control circuitry2 H l @+ P% e3 g) n( J
with no internal clock frequency or oscillator frequency higher than 15 MHz.
