4.1 Category I: apparatus containing no electronic control circuitry.6 _7 ^0 X! q0 _& V
Examples: motor operated appliances, lighting toys, track sets without electronic control units,
! ]! h& F: M: }4 M& U' etools, heating appliances, UV and IR radiators and apparatus containing components such as
( x. r2 c% L- H& ~$ ^& kelectromechanical switches and thermostats.; ^& k* {9 I9 R& ]$ I( a
Electric circuits consisting of passive components (such as radio interference suppression
0 B) |$ r, C$ R0 F5 O3 Mcapacitors or inductors, mains transformers and mains frequency rectifiers) are not considered
g. x S$ u1 e5 }5 jto be electronic control circuitry.% M' H6 L, G* u" e; I
4.2 Category II: transformer toys, dual supply toys, mains powered motor operated appliances,
! N/ g0 [4 Z0 a4 P1 u! n7 O7 Ptools, heating appliances and similar electric apparatus (for example – UV radiators, IR radiators
- C" E2 x" T' V1 Rand microwave ovens) containing electronic control circuitry with no internal clock frequency or0 G/ |$ W/ p9 n) l$ [ }- ]. X* K
oscillator frequency higher than 15 MHz.

4.3 Category III: battery powered apparatus (with built-in batteries or external batteries),
3 R5 J& V, z& n( d" b) kwhich in normal use is not connected to the mains, containing an electronic control circuitry" c5 p* _. H1 v6 H: e
with no internal clock frequency or oscillator frequency higher than 15 MHz.
% K9 g Y+ N+ d! [: k0 P- `. yThis category includes apparatus provided with rechargeable batteries which can be charged
( a4 S( O/ e5 `9 p# L% G$ } d7 Lby connecting the apparatus to the mains power. However, this apparatus shall also be tested/ @/ J X6 \( h; a2 X' a
as an apparatus in category II while it is connected to the mains network.# E& F$ [5 V4 @
NOTE For toys, examples include musical soft toys, cord-controlled toys and motor-operated electronic toys.
