The apparatus covered by this standard is subdivided into categories. For each category,/ H/ e4 l# Z6 l" n* s x v- W

4.1 Category I: apparatus containing no electronic control circuitry.

electromechanical switches and thermostats." j2 E7 _1 X8 U& \; r0 [
Electric circuits consisting of passive components (such as radio interference suppression& v+ z7 j [- ^
capacitors or inductors, mains transformers and mains frequency rectifiers) are not considered

& A0 A9 v* l- y9 ]' l7 j( t. n5 s4.2 Category II: transformer toys, dual supply toys, mains powered motor operated appliances,- `4 K* w" j, U
tools, heating appliances and similar electric apparatus (for example – UV radiators, IR radiators3 O2 c# F4 Q( V& u* L
and microwave ovens) containing electronic control circuitry with no internal clock frequency or" E5 ?; d7 g6 w# x4 \
oscillator frequency higher than 15 MHz.& f+ A% K+ Z! j, Z$ V
NOTE For toys, examples include educational computers, organs, track sets with electronic control units.9 C7 t, \4 L4 b9 z
4.3 Category III: battery powered apparatus (with built-in batteries or external batteries),
( E5 F3 A8 m1 Lwhich in normal use is not connected to the mains, containing an electronic control circuitry9 z+ u+ |. v% X1 s9 a/ V7 o! ^- E
with no internal clock frequency or oscillator frequency higher than 15 MHz.
2 H- q$ }& S% v% A$ k, C( `4 H1 IThis category includes apparatus provided with rechargeable batteries which can be charged
1 G2 b5 n& a# o+ z" Sby connecting the apparatus to the mains power. However, this apparatus shall also be tested
8 j8 X* {3 J0 _5 ?3 Pas an apparatus in category II while it is connected to the mains network.
