Cords shall conform to the following requirements:$ p+ w& n3 |0 O1 t0 ~( c
a) Cords shall have a thickness (smallest dimension) of 1,5 mm or more when tested according to 8.207 o3 h" C* l- `( @/ Q: h
(cord thickness). This does not apply to ribbons.# @$ K; {: j% @ A! G
b) The free length of cords (e.g. on pull-along toys) which include attachments that can form nooses shall

0 @8 S5 h, J' g not exceed 220 mm when stretched by a force of (25 ± 2) N; or
6 [9 s8 F' N& e- ?) h8 f when subjected to a force of (25 ± 2) N, separate into parts not exceeding 220 mm when stretched
0 E+ r3 c4 t( [4 Tby a force of (25 ± 2) N. It shall be possible to join the parts together after they have been separated
5 Y: V& Z# g8 ]- n2 k& iwithout altering the characteristics of the joints (see Figure 10).3 _& { T8 ^3 f+ s
The free length of the cord shall be measured from the fixing point to the end of the cord or to the fixing
" u+ c3 v8 p1 k' [& ^8 I& epoint on the other part of the toy. If the fixing point has the same shape or form as the cord, this part shall- Y! S! v# i( C! g, O* W
be measured as a part of the entire cord (see Figure 11).1 ^" O7 H8 U; P `; c+ O9 I9 {) N
c) The perimeter of any nooses on cords shall not exceed 380 mm when stretched by a force of (25 ± 2) N.$ Z5 ^. `! q5 a6 ^1 m X" c
d) Toys with self-retracting cords shall have a mechanism recoil force less than 10 N.4 Y+ y8 o, U0 u' v+ g& |9 Q) G
e) Cords intended to be fixed across cradles, cots, perambulators etc., shall not exceed 750 mm when7 F/ Y5 h1 ^5 }: v
stretched by a force of (25 ± 2) N, and their length under these conditions shall be not more than 40 %/ F, a1 \6 m9 l! [& H
longer than their relaxed length. |
