Decision: Yes, provided that:
1 |0 ^8 j2 v$ l/ |% s0 j4 k- the LED circuit shall be verified according to IEC/EN 61347-2-13 or IEC/EN
9 O% P2 m% I. s! u61347-2-11 (*) and the LED shall be tested according to IEC/EN 60825 –1
# q, G% c: }* T% V; `$ ?1 d2 K(Safety of laser products) (§)-(#), if it has laser radiation in the wavelength, J6 o% N% M7 B- H& \: i2 y( }$ @
ranging from 180 nm to 1 mm. Only LEDs classified as Class 1 lasers can be
! v* \) h: X0 H% D# w8 W6 Hused without problems for lighting purposes without protection.
/ M7 s) v0 r$ j7 b- The thermal tests required in Section 12 of IEC/EN 60598-1 shall be carried
) c/ O. Y: ?4 k5 r) q. J; b& xout as follows:
( a- X0 S5 _3 t* Ia) Luminaires (Class I or II) with built-in control gear shall be tested& O. t3 F: o; \4 E L |* t6 I
according to the requirements of IEC/EN 60598-2-6.
" t) p U( l1 C7 k7 lb) For Class III luminaires the manufacturer shall provide the necessary& ^7 l5 Q! O$ G3 [5 q, X
information to power up the LED circuit correctly in the instruction sheet.
$ p) H3 T5 C2 T& W9 A+ J! B YAlternatively, the manufacturer shall inform Testing Station about the# k% o3 ^) C* V* S ^ K
trade mark, the type and the technical characteristics of the appropriate) e* ?0 R% h0 G4 e5 D% b( Y- D
control gear to be used. There are three different control gears namely, the
0 T$ j* z& ?: U4 S& _type and the trade mark as indicated by the luminaire manufacturer; an q. k% j% |( w S0 m! }1 O
electronic control gear clearly specified in the luminaire instruction sheet
! t: p1 u0 C! y* y; Z$ k7 N+ ?and a ferromagnetic control gear. The tests shall be carried out as required% k4 N2 W6 d$ v, B( Q- A% t
in Section 12 according to IEC/EN 60598-2-6 with the appropriate control4 O7 ]$ `+ c3 |" y% [: X1 x3 q
gear.: ]" @1 L/ }7 b7 B7 P/ W. x
(*) When IEC/EN 62031 (34A/1168/CDV) will be published, it will takes3 }& ^ C+ w {+ Y( U7 \9 e
over IEC/EN 61347-2-11.
