assembled at off-site locations and intended for use as factory
) h f& t& f+ _# A8 D5 hinstalled components at an end-product manufacturing facility. They) h3 ~) |0 t# i# G8 z0 F
are defined as components consisting of two or more wires joined! @; W9 R. X' T; y1 i. M: G* [
electrically and/or mechanically, and may include connectors, plugs,
% f+ I7 @" g8 lstrain reliefs, splices, etc. When assembled at an off-site location,
5 V( Y/ p% n, R4 {# gtraceability for components used to construct a wiring harness is/ b5 R" s: g( D7 ?, A5 e7 y
not possible at an end-product factory location. This program can b k: d3 _* u7 }
be used to provide this traceability. Each wiring harness is normally
% S K0 G$ U8 n8 aconstructed in accordance with a harness diagram and is generally9 g' c5 Y' z# P3 O! c1 w
designed for a specific application that is indicated on a diagram
8 m+ H! v8 l/ r! A+ p; ]1 W1 Cor carton marking. These wiring harnesses are not intended for
3 O6 R% U) S0 z: Ffield installation. An assembly consisting solely of a cord set, power
! m3 l" t+ Q; c3 `7 fsupply cord or power supply cord attached to an appliance such as
/ `) U; D$ m6 C) p' N# w8 Ea motor is not eligible for coverage under this program.
- x; t+ Z! Q c" HMethod of traceability
% T+ s% i; _7 d+ _4 K) \An off-site fabricator assembles a wiring harness in accordance with/ j2 S2 ~6 Q/ K3 t& h% U) R! a" j
a harness diagram, print or other specification from an end-product
( `7 F0 G* X; ?0 W* @; `manufacturer that details construction elements and components4 a! w4 q# f( Z1 X, B
to be used in assembling a harness. A harness manufacturer: P! Z& v' q" M: B+ L
will assemble a harness in accordance with these specifications
: D& }+ D% ^' y" w, ^, n6 p- vand, provided that a wiring harness is in compliance with these
+ _4 P! m* e, j* a8 p8 D" r+ P7 |' Mspecifications, it may be shipped with the UL Mark. Traceability for
* s5 w/ n5 M: P4 Qthese construction elements is further determined at an end-product
. |! Q6 M' w: a$ Nmanufacturing location and involves verifying that these features
( ]) @& x* n# X& x9 L* n$ Dcomply with an end-product Follow-Up Services procedure.
