Question: In § 4 of IEC 61048 and in § 3 of IEC 61049 rules for sampling plan are provided.
Beside the main rule, the following additional statement is given: “The capacitor with
' V5 s* p! e1 h, r& o- d+ Tthe maximum capacitance per unit surface area shall also be tested if this ratio
/ G4 m' k" G" m/ zexceeds that of the maximum capacitance value in the range by 10% or greater.
Similarly, the capacitor with the minimum capacitance per unit area shall also be
tested if this ratio is less than that of the minimum capacitance value in the range by
) L% ]% o# R) r' D( `1 f! k0 P; {10% or greater”. Nevertheless, the sampling plan is not well specified when the
/ l/ I+ U2 j4 U% l: q  y% g7 Yabove case occurs. How should be composed the final sampling for tests?
3 e/ F2 p; `, JDecision: For the time being to apply the following proposed solution:
+ y9 f( f9 D$ _1 ~When the above case occurs, each group referred to in § 11 of IEC 61048 or in § 4
8 |" ~, J& g0 |- f6 rof IEC 61049 shall contain as nearly as possible equal numbers of capacitors of the
highest capacitance and of capacitors with capacitance per unit surface area
& ]! A& J$ d  Z8 lexceeding that of the maximum capacitance value in the range by 10% or greater.
Similarly, each of those groups, shall contain as nearly as possible equal numbers of
capacitors of the lowest capacitance and of capacitors with capacitance per unit
$ V* O' B" [3 l- U. p  Isurface area less than that of the minimum capacitance value in the range by 10% or
! o/ a5 G1 D8 o, u  S* {8 |/ ?7 ]: Fgreater.

A sampling of 50 capacitors is required and according to the above decision they
: y' i) Y# |' m6 k0 C3 ~  Nshall be split as follows:
( N. l# h8 ?! }) t- 12 (13) capacitors of the highest capacitance in the range;
# d3 g) Z- D9 s# Q, k: M- 13 (12) capacitors with the maximum capacitance per unit surface area exceeding that of the

- 12 (13) capacitors of the lowest capacitance in the range;
- 13 (12) capacitors with capacitance per unit surface area less than that of the minimum
