Position: Product Safety Engineer (R&D Laboratory)

Responsibilities2 j1 P- m! P' X& \
The Product Safety Engineer will be responsible for determining whether product designs comply with product safety standards. This is not a repetitive role and tests will be product specific.4 n" e$ Q0 p3 _! \$ R
4 q+ B, l$ f4 [9 l7 ? sThe specific responsibilities will include:- ( h( F+ T$ ]) j# h& S
• Checking that printed circuit board layouts, assembled boards and complete equipments comply with product safety requirements.
; ]8 X% Y1 X6 G! t7 d6 D• Checking suitability of safety critical components.: x/ N8 w' E! A
• Assess single faults which may cause fire or electric shock hazards and carry out tests, if necessary.# ^: H, I* A. Y. f" r, H# G
• Check that there are suitable safety clauses in the user documentation.
* Y6 p9 L# N x3 G0 r• Using our standard report/checklist, based on product specific safety standard EN 60255-27, to demonstrate product safety compliance.2 j3 l# b- q3 l8 c/ e/ @+ }: x
• Producing Certificates of Conformity for compliance for compliance with the European Low Voltage directive (LVD). . E6 u5 \7 ]4 i
• Working with external safety assessment bodies.

You will possess a degree in Engineering or Science and have experience in electronic product development or testing. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to perform product safety assessment and testing of electronic/electrical equipment. ) t+ z, t; n5 z8 q
! L ?* ^7 o8 _; b' s
Knowledge of national/ international safety related standards, e.g. IEC/EN 60950-1 or IEC/EN 61010-1, as well as experience in assessing the compliance of printed circuit board design with safety standards and European directives will be advantageous. ' S* h% y9 b+ w1 Z* o
6 S! I4 v/ W1 ]8 @; u* M+ B& uYou will have good communication skills and work as part of a certification team to demonstrate product safety compliance and assist in obtaining external product approvals. Prior experience in the development of protection, measurement or datacomm products would be an advantage. 1 \6 K0 o+ q( O
