Question
Transformers in switching mode power supplies often contain triple insulated winding
wire (=TIW) (wire with extruded insulation layers). These windings typically cross
4 u& s0 j/ ]  r, }each other at an angle between 45° and 90° at the exit points as marked in the
Figure below.
9 z* K# r2 o; Q: @0 xIn the given example TIW is used for secondary circuit windings, whereas the primary
circuit windings are made of enamel coated wire. Distances between the point where
TIW crosses itself and primary circuit winding wire do not comply with Basic
(respectively Supplementary) Insulation requirements.
