Question:
A battery charger for lead acid batteries may be used in a room. Does the battery charger fall
within the scope of IEC61010-1?
Decision:
Battery Chargers – Generally these are within the scope of IEC60335 unless they are
supplied as a part of the apparatus falling within IEC61010-1 when they are considered as an
integral part of the equipment.
Chargers supplied with apparatus under IEC60335 but with any additional requirements
from IEC61010-1 as pertinent for example due to extended climatic conditions.
