( V$ U# @- d. N. z& @§ 8.4 of IEC 60929 states – “unless otherwise specified on the relevant lamp data sheet, the ballast shall
4 J$ b3 G, E% p: t# Ylimit the current delivered to a reference lamp to a value not exceeding 115% of that delivered to the same
lamp when operated with a reference ballast”. Some lamps can operate at both 50 Hz or HF, but the
3 N$ V$ m2 s( Y" {reference ballast exists only for 50 or 60 Hz (for example 18 W G13). The lamp data sheet provides the
“typical HF lamp characteristics” (lamp wattage, lamp voltage, lamp current). Generally, the lamp current
in HF is lower than the lamp calibration current with 50 Hz reference ballast. Example, the HF current of
the 18 W G13 is 290 mA in comparison with 370 mA for the calibration current with 50 Hz reference
ballast (see 60081-IEC-2220-1). Should we use the HF current in the IEC lamp data sheet as the lamp
