This program provides traceability for wiring harnesses that are

installed components at an end-product manufacturing facility. They c; Y+ U9 }" v# F' V0 E) O
are defined as components consisting of two or more wires joined
2 e4 U4 k4 O: t3 [4 h! ^4 Z1 Yelectrically and/or mechanically, and may include connectors, plugs,. ^: G" U: g5 [) D
strain reliefs, splices, etc. When assembled at an off-site location,
' q1 t$ p) l% P, c$ ptraceability for components used to construct a wiring harness is! G3 s8 E/ E2 ]; B
not possible at an end-product factory location. This program can
, Y. S3 w8 t' m7 j+ q) y- D, z7 Lbe used to provide this traceability. Each wiring harness is normally \, I: c9 [5 I4 P, L2 m
constructed in accordance with a harness diagram and is generally: y9 C' m) S+ D; c) P2 o+ c. W
designed for a specific application that is indicated on a diagram" I* a% i- o! V O5 B/ I
or carton marking. These wiring harnesses are not intended for& q- [# z3 s# f; v0 t1 x1 |
field installation. An assembly consisting solely of a cord set, power+ _: B3 K: M2 c$ ~' t
supply cord or power supply cord attached to an appliance such as- g4 U Y+ H. N1 Q8 D8 M
a motor is not eligible for coverage under this program.( F3 J5 q. E3 |6 j
Method of traceability5 \( G2 Z' X4 C j" N
An off-site fabricator assembles a wiring harness in accordance with
) N: c" G( _; Z2 M: g8 Y0 p3 Ya harness diagram, print or other specification from an end-product; p9 M! F% H/ ?' o
manufacturer that details construction elements and components( M: W* k0 s% Z) E! B
to be used in assembling a harness. A harness manufacturer1 |7 F# J) f5 X! R# ?, k( o
will assemble a harness in accordance with these specifications' g" d B( j9 U2 g. Q& U" ~; {
and, provided that a wiring harness is in compliance with these
3 M5 K. v9 l4 t% {* \specifications, it may be shipped with the UL Mark. Traceability for4 v2 w3 w: @1 u- Y$ G% P' P+ c' r0 C
these construction elements is further determined at an end-product I) V: d( x$ D- o
manufacturing location and involves verifying that these features' k0 z2 e! @2 V! V. p
comply with an end-product Follow-Up Services procedure.) M$ L7 i3 v2 q4 w7 j- R6 `3 N
