Question: In the 2nd edition of IEC 335-1 as well as in the 3rd edition the terms
% k$ h6 D1 }. [! P3 N2 \% V; n: \+ B- space-threaded screws,
; R% E7 ~& A5 I4 x2 y- thread-cutting screws,
- screws which form the thread by a swaging action
are used.
It is more and more convenient to use different types of thread-cutting and thread-forming
# u: h# n1 N' |8 x" n: u5 X3 r- escrews and it is difficult to identify whether it is a cutting or forming screw. The differentiation
* m* e8 N! \, ~& g" J& Iis however necessary because for earth connections as well as for current carrying connections
! K8 F+ O/ \7 p- f' m7 Yrestrictions concerning the use of such screws are within the specifications.
- |2 T$ U! |$ f" S) _; U+ GTherefore we want to show with the enclosed pictures what is our opinion on
  R& c' q2 L& Wthis matter. We would like to hear the opinions of other delegates.
" ^( y; J! u0 r* v5 n* W% bDecision: Mr. Reininger then introduces document IECEE/CTL (DE-EXP) 017/92, concerning IEC 335-
1, Sub-clause 28 “Screws and Connections”, the problem being recognizing different types of
1 [# E0 X7 [8 U" `* _1 N! O/ f1 d5 v* [screws and the judgment to which category they belong.
After discussion the Committee agrees with the German document and it was then decided to
& h' @9 N9 Y2 {/ k& ^! Kput it into the CTL list of current decisions.
