Clause 7.1 – Conduct the test in air, in a heating cabinet at the required temperature within a tolerance of8 v" }' p' U# u& G

Before introducing the test specimen, bring the test apparatus, the test specimen support and loading
  h, O% `% H/ _4 ?+ k- u  odevice to the required temperature and maintain them at the required temperature for 24 h or until# n+ [- k/ K  R8 ~+ E
equilibrium conditions are reached, whichever occurs sooner. Measure the temperature as close as" F9 @" P% ?" e! a: [
possible to the test specimen.1 O- \6 ~' q% o1 D8 ~; i
Place the test specimen in a forced air convection single cabinet according to sub clauses 4.1.5 and 4.1.64 y2 H7 c! t& g" Y$ d/ t) b
of IEC 60216-4-1/1990. Support the specimen on a block, such as stainless steel block, with adequate
' H2 G  M  P5 `( p+ G" z- J% ndimensions, so that its upper surface is horizontal. Apply the ball pressure apparatus so that the steel ball
$ n7 a6 q1 i' N' n% A2 _5 N* iis pressed against the surface with a force of 20 N +/- 0,2 N. Take care to ensure the ball does not move! D% ~3 j# A5 j/ B
during the test. After the ball pressure apparatus has been applied for 60 + 2/0 minutes, remove it and
3 L* `- ?7 m) _2 A: Oimmerse the test specimen in ambient temperature water within 10 s. Allow the test specimen to cool in. U4 _% I/ k5 a
the water to approximately room temperature for no longer than 8 minutes and remove all traces of water.
! [5 \4 y6 h4 @1 q. E1 U+ AClause 7.2 – Within 3 minutes after removal from the water, measure the diameter of the indentation
- E9 I0 V. n+ U: ~/ Q% k% o) c8 Rcaused by the ball to one decimal place. The spherical portion of the indentation to be measured excludes/ E! P& O/ @2 n7 o
any material deformation around the spherical indentation, as shown in figure 2. In case of doubt, make
6 F, e9 J2 C/ I+ R$ v/ \+ gtwo further tests and measure the diameter of the indentation to one decimal place; both of these tests shall1 K4 Y# W. v8 H' {& T6 c
meet the requirements of clause 9. The result is expressed as pass if the diameter of the indentation(s)
9 ^: ]3 J; h7 w, G0 R7 y$ ]does not exceed 2,0 mm. The diameter of the indentation caused by the ball is measured by a lens
& U: {9 `/ z8 X7 `. ~" e# `! ?- g' ~3 I(approximate magnification of 10x) equipped with a reticule, a cross-travel measuring table and a lighting1 W5 f  d/ L' Y
device to enable the illumination of the surface of the test specimen. For measuring the diameter of the. x3 G+ l/ j3 I5 D
indentation, the reticule is moved from one side to the other.6 y( ^8 Z2 y/ O* g+ V3 K8 E+ j
In case of doubt, other instruments may be used, i.e. microscope or profile projector. In case of nonround
4 B% W/ [  R  f+ b9 c: P3 findentation obtained, indicate on the Report the longest measurement observed, maximum
. n2 H' V! c+ Hallowable difference between the longest and shortest measurement: 0,2 mm.
