爱美之心人皆有之，不少女士喜欢美甲，用假指甲，岂不知一些美甲用品中会含有一些有害身体的成分。根据欧盟RAPEX（The Rapid Alert System for Non-Food Products 非食品类产品快速预警系统）35-2012周每周通报：捷克报告了多起假指甲产品，其胶水中含有欧盟化妆品指令76/768/EEC中禁止化妆品中含有的邻苯二甲酸二丁酯 【dibutyl phthalate (DBP) 】（该物质在我国《化妆品卫生规范》中同样列在禁用组分目录之中），这些产品被强制从市场撤出。这些产品有来自中国的，也有韩国的，还有一些来源不明（详见所附通报原文的摘录）

另据有关报道（http://news.eastday.com/s/20120412/u1a6482320.html#）：美国加州环保局（DTSC）有调查报告指出，在该机构随机抽查的25款指甲油中，有12款存在“标签撒谎”现象声称不含有毒物质的产品，事实上含有甲苯及甲醛等有毒物质，部分产品的含量更处于高危水平。DTSC有毒物质控制部门指出，接触这些化学物质或会导致影响胎儿发育、癌症、哮喘等其他慢性疾病，令美甲店的女职员及顾客处于潜在危险之中。报告指出，这些问题指甲油产品中含有的有毒化学品包括邻苯二甲酸二丁酯（DBP）、甲苯和甲醛等，其中DBP和甲苯被公认为是影响发育的毒素，美国FDA及化妆品成分审查小组认为，这两种物质要控制在安全范围内。而甲醛是已知的致癌物质。这次曝光的问题指甲油包括“Sation 99 Basecoat”、“New York Summer Nail Color”、“Golden Girl Top Coat”、“Sunshine Nail Lacquer”等12款，均不在中国市场出售。
