SUMMARY: The China GB 4943.1:201X (Chinese standard that is equivalent to IEC 60950-1, 2nd Edition with Chinese national differences) will become effective on March 16, 2012 for all products under the scope of IEC 60950-1:2005 that are applied with the CCC mark.1 y' P* K0 x8 M+ @' l" w3 _

IMPACT: All CCC certifications will need to be updated by March 16, 2012. It is recommended that all submittals made after December 1, 2011 will be to this new standard.1 u$ X1 k5 @7 u# i
' ^- V* V% |. w: b: a0 h; I- h, pMajor changes: Following are the major Chinese national differences from IEC 60950-1 2nd Ed found in the China GB 4943.1 standard.% k) m& ^; {( G2 p, i$ F

1). 1.4.5 - Tolerances on supply voltage: Tolerances are + 10% and - 10% instead of + 6% and - 10% as given in IEC60950-1. The China mains voltage is 220 V. Therefore, the test voltages under consideration are 198 to 242 V.; s( P& {9 I* z: L K
p' l- E7 g; |
This will not have an impact if a product is marked with an input voltage range such as 200-240 V (servers are marked like this). This will have an impact a product is marked with a single input voltage such as 230 V or 115/230 V (desk top units are marked 115/230 V). In this case the heating test of 4.5 of IEC 60950-1 may need to be repeated at 198 V.& V# r7 }; K' t n" F4 ^% F' M9 t

2). 1.7.1 - Marking of input rating: 220 V, 50 Hz for single phase; and 380 V, 50 Hz for 3-phase, F% @% C1 O7 ]1 {9 Q5 C

- d$ ]% ]; [/ Z5 s0 ~& I4). Altitude and clearances: For China, the clearances ( through air electrical spacings ) must be suitable for 5000 m. Dell currently designs equipment for 3048 m ( 10,000 feet ). Therefore, (unless clearances for 5000 m are used) the following symbol and instructions must be provided. All Dell equipment with CCC marking is impacted unless we redesign the equipment for 5000 m.+ H& C1 n. ]) z! W: m _
! w, n. }& y" Y4 b4 |3 q! O* Y
NOTE – For example, for 230 V equipment the clearance required for basic insulation is 2 mm. Dell requires this clearance to be 2.28 mm. For China and 5000 m 2.96 mm would be the require clearance distance.
