WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Manufacturer: SmartSpark Energy Systems Inc., of Champaign, Ill.

; _0 s3 ~6 ?1 s  ~4 r; lHazard: The recalled equalizers can overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers.

; e4 S, b# f! A( q; NIncidents/Injuries: The firm has received one report of an equalizer that overheated which resulted in fire that caused damage to the equalizer and batteries. No injuries have been reported.

Description: The recalled battery equalizers are charge balancing devices designed to increase the performance and longevity of rechargeable batteries.

Sold at: Authorized distributors and retailers from July 2006 through March 2009 for about $300.
