15.2.3 For ceiling-mounted luminaires, the thermal insulation specified in Clause 19.16 shall be placed

(b) the initial depth of the insulation shall not exceed the height of the lamp compartment; and4 A' X% s3 W$ z7 ]* w8 u1 T, b
(c) if more than one test iteration is required to achieve the results specified in Clause 15.2.7,

that the maximum 216 mm (8.5 in) height requirement is not exceeded. For each additional

15.2.4 For recessed wall-mounted luminaires, the thermal insulation specified in Clause 19.16 shall be

15.2.6 A luminaire shall be operated until the thermal protector trips or for a maximum of 7.5 h. If the

insulation, until:9 Y3 z# k+ h5 z5 ?
(a) the thermal protector trips within 3 h; or2 d& O" B6 X; T4 u
(b) the temperature limits in Table 14.1.2 are exceeded; or& X, H* C5 y4 z! X$ F! r* q
(c) the thermal insulation height is 216 mm (8.5 in) above the highest projection of the
" x1 Q2 Q% F' a, W/ G& \% G4 tluminaire, the thermal protector does not operate, and the temperature limits are not exceeded,% L5 I- j: n$ |6 r
in which case the test shall be repeated with the next hotter trim installed.
/ ~( |2 [5 J( D0 p2 M. k15.2.7 Test results shall be acceptable if the thermal protector:# m) R, m) P7 E/ O' N
(a) operates within 3 h and no part of the luminaire in contact with thermal insulation or the test
4 l* N& S( |0 abox exceeds 160 °C; or
' K0 Q3 j4 Y# U(b) does not operate within 3 h and the temperature limits specified in Table 14.1.2 are not
5 d _# C0 [: d& v8 |exceeded during the test. Any part of the luminaire in contact with thermal insulation or the test0 L1 R1 @& X$ c( e' v# i( e
box shall not exceed 90 °C. The test shall be terminated after 7.5 h.
