If FUNCTIONAL EARTHING of accessible or inaccessible conductive parts is necessary, all of the

0 W: I M2 |6 }2 j/ C• DOUBLE INSULATION or REINFORCED INSULATION; or! t) |- ?8 c7 w+ k( g
• a protectively earthed screen or another protectively earthed conductive part, separated2 ]- z4 A1 {4 @+ f
from parts at HAZARDOUS VOLTAGES by at least BASIC INSULATION; and2 s7 I! w" X; I. y
− it is permitted to connect the FUNCTIONAL EARTHING circuit to a protective earth terminal or# Z/ {+ a8 f/ [1 K O# q
to a PROTECTIVE BONDING CONDUCTOR; and
3 m, Q5 j# L, E! z: D, a4 V− wiring terminals to be used only for FUNCTIONAL EARTHING shall not be marked by the
6 Q7 p3 ~/ C/ m9 h% O6 hsymbol (60417-IEC-5017) or by the symbol (60417-IEC-5019), except that, where a1 f4 V6 }8 s a8 x2 `' d) X. ~, V: Z
wiring terminal is provided on a component (for example, a terminal block) or6 h. p g6 G) }
subassembly, the symbol is permitted; and
# A' M. w A# h" q4 i: VNOTE Other markings such as one of the symbols, (IEC 60417-5018 (DB:2002-10)) or
d5 \' R+ w/ V. W+ s$ ](IEC 60417-5020

− for internal FUNCTIONAL EARTHING conductors, the colour combination green-and-yellow/ X8 o Z- J1 o( n1 m, S' B8 N
shall not be used except in multipurpose preassembled components (for example, multiconductor: \* h& o0 [( f) c* O, q! \0 l/ t
cables or EMC filters); and3 i% u. i4 V1 ~: U, `3 Q
NOTE Other markings such as one of the symbols, (IEC 60417-5018 (DB:2002-10)) or
' Y$ a9 I' o' Q! q(IEC 60417-5020
C1 Q, s( S$ _7 ^: a8 |(DB:2002-10)), if appropriate, are permitted.
9 T; K" l- W! h− for internal FUNCTIONAL EARTHING conductors, the colour combination green-and-yellow
# l) |* |& D0 i; V% J! b) }3 jshall not be used except in multipurpose preassembled components (for example, multiconductor7 }+ z9 s, h2 P1 _2 E6 X( Z2 ]' S8 J' A
cables or EMC filters); and
% T) {7 p; Y3 [1 w0 R) o. {: V− in a power supply cord where a conductor having green-and-yellow insulation is used only) a& P) s) [9 Z4 G; A
to provide a FUNCTIONAL EARTHING connection:
* `& C$ q, N& {- p7 B/ k: t1 [• the equipment shall not be marked with the symbol (IEC 60417-5172 (DB:2003:02));

6 q" q# y- p1 b R• there are no requirements other than those in 3.1.9 regarding the termination of this
' T; E% v& c, P* l9 \# f9 ^conductor at the equipment end.# T; |) H4 \5 \/ w7 M# _
For equipment having a power supply cord where a conductor with green-and-yellow( f4 Z* p2 F% l4 G3 O+ Y2 G3 `0 e
insulation is used only to provide a FUNCTIONAL EARTHING connection:$ `% C3 x* `; A' z
− the equipment shall not be marked with the symbol , IEC 60417-5172 (2003-02); and! ]( l) i; d$ z# B8 ]* y
− the equipment may be marked with:8 T* @. _% ?; r
• the symbol , IEC 60417-5018 (2011-07); or
6 O0 S5 c6 Z7 P# W; j2 v• the symbol , IEC 60417-6092 (2011-10).3 @( @4 N. F2 p" @
These symbols shall not be used for CLASS I EQUIPMENT.. N1 H e/ r F( Z4 G$ |6 v
There are no requirements other than those in 3.1.9 regarding the termination of this
