I recently purchased an 8-kw portable generator. I was extremely surprised to find that the manufacturer included an extension cord with a male 250-V, 30-Amp male cord cap to supply four 125-V, 15 Amp outlets on the load side of the cord. This creates serious problems. We now have 125-V, 15-Amp outlets protected at 30-Amps. Additionally, these cordsets are readily available and the use of such a cord completely negates the new GFCI requirements in 445.20. Does UL list such a product?

笔者内文意思大致如下:

"买了一部 8kW 发电机, 附带了一条伸延电线, 但这款电线违反了最新美国条例, 究竟这个产品是否有 UL 认证?"

首先, 内文所指违反之条例是 NEC 445.20, 即 NFPA 70 之 Section 445.20! 很不幸, 笔者所指的 NFPA 70 Section 445.20 是 2014 版之新增, 安规网内之 2011 版是没有的!

上网找了半天, 445.20内文如下:

445.20 Ground-Fault Circuit Interrupter Protection for Receptacles on 15 kW or Smaller, Portable Generators. All 125-volt, single-phase, 15-and 20 ampere receptacle outlets, that are a part of a 15 kW or smaller, portable generator, either shall have ground fault circuit interrupter protection for personnel integral to the generator or receptacle, or shall not be available for use when the 125/250 volt locking-type receptacle is in use. If the generator does not have a 125/250 volt locking-type receptacle, this requirement shall not apply.

由于笔者没有清楚说明是伸延电线什么不符合条例, 但本人估计是没有 GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter)

另有一个小插曲, 曾经有生产商上诉要把条文改成 :

445.20 Ground-Fault Circuit Interrupter Protection for Receptacles on 15 kW or Smaller, Portable Generators. All 125-volt, single-phase, 15-and 20 ampere receptacle outlets, that are a part of a 15 kW or smaller, portable generator, either shall have ground fault circuit interrupter protection for personnel integral to the generator or receptacle, or shall not be available for use when the 125/250 volt locking-type receptacle is in use. If the generator does not have a 125/250 volt locking-type receptacle or was manufactured or remanufactured prior to January 1, 2015, this requirement shall not apply.

即在 Jan 01, 2015 前生产之发电机可以豁免, 但最终上诉被驳回!

还有一个疑点, 条例中只是说发电机那些 Receptacle outlet 需要有 GFCI 保护功能, 没有指明伸延电线(extension cord)要有 GFCI.
假设发电机已经内置了 GFCI, 即使用了伸延线也自然有保护功能!

貌似客人最担心的是一个250V/30A 的code 要供4个125V/15A的输出。所以他在250V/30A的code那边加了一个125V/15A的保护。

客户两点疑问啊，第一是你用30A的输入线头，但是你的插座是15A的，不匹配，所以客户把15A的插座换成了30A的。第二点就是你这样的线违反了GFCI要求

其实这段我也有想过：

笔者没有清楚描述这条 extension cord, 这个 250V 是什么意思呢?
发电机输出 250V？如果这样, 伸延线后之插座怎可能变成 125V？
发电机输出 125V？如果这样, 125x30 达不到 8KW?

如果这条电缐插头之所谓 250V 笔者是指那种 2 phase 4线 (NEMA 14-50 : L1, L2, N, GND) L1-N/L2-N各125V, 那便较为合理! 2 组 125V 各 30A, 输出是4组125V 各15A!

图片中的插头看不清楚, 是否 NEMA L14-30P?

插頭電流 30A 是大於尾部 15A ，電壓如125 V 等於尾部的電壓。怎麼就不符合了？
