meet the requirements of IEC 60238.
2 h/ @" K% F& H# {9 W- Clause 8.2 of IEC 60238 requires that lampholder shall be tested according to the gauges 7006-30
: h9 @8 L/ l$ z(7006-30A for candle lampholder) and 7006-31.
^' `( s' _7 W4 c. @In the case shown in photos 1 and 2, the only possibility to fulfill the requirements with gauge 7006-30 is0 D/ o$ a; C. {2 p [, S% B
to cut the gasket around the rim of the lampholder. However in this condition the lampholder does not
, q+ b% U, q2 _3 c lfulfill the requirement of 7006-31 for protection against electric shock. In the note after the fourth
4 H/ k. w) j- u* I- w8 P" ]paragraph of clause 20.12.1 of IEC 60598-2-20 it is written that the gasket may serve as protection against+ O( g- k; E5 ~1 q( s8 G- @2 v
accidental contact with the cap of the lamp, but only for bayonet lampholder. So, it is not applicable to the
" P+ w5 K, J4 s. @E14 lampholder.5 U. ?* ]( @: Q# n
In the case shown in photo 3 the test with gauge 7006-31 gives negative result.
8 @. ~7 d) U! A' [$ FIn the two cases, the lampholders have been designed to accept E14/20 lamp cap only (and not E14/23x15
/ I. t V, Q: r5 K/ [% j7 V0 Nor E14/25x17). So, if the tests are performed with these kind of lamps, the test requirements are fulfilled.
5 i: @( `: ^' p: ]% V& ]We think that this lampholder used in a lighting chain is not in compliance with the standard due to the, Q2 T, Y8 `1 A6 @9 ]
requirement of clause 20.7.1. What is the opinion of the other laboratories?5 a& ~$ a$ ]. Q. B- L5 X' }

The lampholder can be accepted as part of lighting chain / luminaire. All requirements according to IEC
* B1 K7 h1 S9 x* n% I2 u* v60238 as far as applicable have to be fulfilled and the gauge 7006-31 shall comply.
