The point is whether your product is working with a Car Plug or not!

For e-mark, the ESD test is NOT necessary for all car accessories. Hence, your product need not have the ESD test.

For CE-Mark, the ESD should be done. As a basic rule, all user accessible parts will be tested but the pins inside the connector will not be tested. For metal acessible parts, the 4kV contact discharge will be done. For non-metal acessible parts, the 8kV air discharge will be done. In your case, a plastic cap is covering the USB. Then, a lab may perform# C5 R4 I8 z, Y# p. R* [- Y
- the 8kV air discharge nearby the USB port when the plastic cap is covered the port.+ u& x; T/ ^2 z
- the 4kV contact discharge at the shielded ground of USB if the shielded ground is accessible after the plastic cover is removed. |
