Surge suppression varistors used in order to prevent MAINS overvoltages coming into the
. O. e* U. ?3 j6 gapparatus shall comply with IEC 61051-2.
! d2 D! {" ^ x M% e* jSuch components shall not be connected between parts connected to the MAINS and
. a @) k7 C; f# iACCESSIBLE conductive parts or parts connected to them, except for earthed parts of
* ~; [5 X/ R$ `* [4 ~PERMANENTLY CONNECTED APPARATUS.' q6 `9 b2 {! C9 ] f

& T: r) W/ }* O3 f+ v4 @Surge suppression varistors shall withstand a combination pulse of 6 kV/3 kA with voltage

9 H! R* x0 L9 B% e, e1 GCompliance is checked by applying the test of IEC 61051-2, group 1. After the test, the
! j c! h! B* t V$ Y" l4 Bvaristor voltage (as defined in IEC 61051) shall not have changed by more than 10 % when- ~7 h: T, C& G' o, s
measured with the manufacturer’s specified current./ R, i7 L9 u! t; k$ v* s6 ^7 b

/ C% T$ A+ I+ }& [The coating of surge suppression varistors shall have a flammability category V-0 or better& D+ W5 l" b) U. l) p3 ~

Compliance is checked according to IEC 60707 or according to clause G.1.1 of annex G.

connected in series with the apparatus shall be energised from an a.c. source of 250 V.

opens for each of the test series resistance values: 2 000 , 500 , 250 , 50 . A9 L4 P5 k" J9 ]8 @1 N0 b
separate apparatus shall be used for each resistor value, unless damage from the previous& _( w9 j3 f8 U$ I& }

At the end of each test, the apparatus shall comply with clause 11. |
