# S* K1 y2 v4 m# aThis program provides traceability for wiring harnesses that are% {& k3 t2 C$ e) Y( P
assembled at off-site locations and intended for use as factory- [+ w$ A. V) J: ~
installed components at an end-product manufacturing facility. They: Z; I ?, ]8 w* B9 R" U
are defined as components consisting of two or more wires joined
; i- M2 H1 z+ o2 lelectrically and/or mechanically, and may include connectors, plugs,. C- [! a3 {9 D% ]2 |
strain reliefs, splices, etc. When assembled at an off-site location,
- {+ X4 y% g9 K$ c8 r1 y" Xtraceability for components used to construct a wiring harness is4 F" d7 Z3 H4 n1 j8 w& Z& q6 w
not possible at an end-product factory location. This program can8 [1 x x9 s. S5 Q9 O; E8 v
be used to provide this traceability. Each wiring harness is normally7 J; M* Y% I9 f) v7 @. R
constructed in accordance with a harness diagram and is generally
7 c" q$ M/ H0 Z& |9 gdesigned for a specific application that is indicated on a diagram$ P/ u& }4 Y) J" O, n! s
or carton marking. These wiring harnesses are not intended for
& ?: o3 y) v" o7 z" d- zfield installation. An assembly consisting solely of a cord set, power6 H+ K1 C3 K( o' B* L. k( T
supply cord or power supply cord attached to an appliance such as
% i, m, k4 c( ]- p6 K, i. u8 Sa motor is not eligible for coverage under this program.

, m! K$ D2 f/ f* E- n% y: ^6 ZAn off-site fabricator assembles a wiring harness in accordance with
% ?# }2 x4 z k0 z' d6 r) |5 \! b/ Za harness diagram, print or other specification from an end-product
: i1 A1 `! |1 V& ~& g$ N, W# Pmanufacturer that details construction elements and components
7 \( _$ E; w0 fto be used in assembling a harness. A harness manufacturer9 D4 Z- @9 y* t* p( d# w
will assemble a harness in accordance with these specifications0 {& Z- S+ q6 t3 K
and, provided that a wiring harness is in compliance with these$ I5 y( y2 S: u! Y$ x0 S j4 D+ l, B
specifications, it may be shipped with the UL Mark. Traceability for
8 k6 H& u- R( g0 c# q! zthese construction elements is further determined at an end-product: r/ _3 _4 c0 J0 c; P! z
manufacturing location and involves verifying that these features% O3 A" C f- O
comply with an end-product Follow-Up Services procedure.

container in which a product is packaged is the only method used% Z: q/ h3 e- J* b
to identify wiring harnesses manufactured under the UL Recognition) L% S7 @/ l# B6 c
and Follow-Up Service programs. |
