In which case, VN will be issued?
Hi, All guys:Currently, UL is a worldwide certification body and has big, well fame, especiallyin the electrical appliances, but during the FUS inspection, VN is a very boring thing to all factory representatives, so pls kindly share your experience about the UL FUS audit and show some experience to avoid the VNs. First from my side. I give some examples of VN.
1. There is an agreement between UL and the manufacturers that the IPI(initial product inspection) must be done before the first shipment , so pls remember it, if your factory has new UL file, contact the local UL Inspection center to do the IPI before you ship out your products with the UL marks.
2. There is an agreement between UL and the manufacturers that all the regurlar inspections are unannounced beside some special cases, such as the IPI, IMP, Field report, so don't blame UL auditors that why you don't notice us before your coming....that's rediculous. but of course, if the auditors contact you before the regular inspection or you have good relationship with the UL auditors, that will be another case.
3.There is an agreement between UL and the manufacturers that the access of the UL auditors to the factory is allowable, so don't refuse the access of the UL auditor, or the VN will be issued, and lots of US dollars will be fined.
4. There is an agreement between UL and the manufacturers that the waiting time can not be so long( IPI will be a little longer), so don't let the UL auditor wait so long at the rest room or the meeting room, or a VN will be issued.
5.UL auditors are very like to find some VNs on the marking and labels, so pls read your FUS procedure carefully and word by word, and try to avoid this kind of VN.
6.Check your FUS procedure and your products at intervals, make sure that all the components and materials which your factory used can comply with the FUS procedures description, if not, try to solve this kind of problems as soon as possible.
7.Make sure that all the equipments which your factory used and related with the UL have been calibrated at intervals, and can be traced to CNAS level.
8.Keep some COC files and documents as UL's requirements, make it more clear.
9.Check your production line and the warehouse, make sure that there is no non-authorized products are using UL mark, if there is, solve it as soon as possible.
10.If cable and wire are maufactured or used, then make sure that the UL labels are correctly used on the products.
11. If VN is finally issued, and it's a real VN, don't refuse to sign this VN, or a new VN item will be issued....
All VNs will be fined by UL, currently whether it's reasonable or not, so try to avoid some VNs, cause it can save money, and welcome to show you guys' experience to help others.... 12. Don't ship out the products which already have some VNs, cause this will lead to IMP( increase monitor procedure), a serious punish policy applied by UL. 13. 不要拒絕UL檢驗員抽樣,當你對自己公司產品沒有信心時,儘量協商不抽樣或者下次抽樣,當然前提是擬合檢驗員關係還可以 Hehe, good experience! Andy.Yang,呵呵,終於加威望了,沒有白費你寫了這麼多,繼續努力!!!! ,Thanks for encouraging, but I still hope other guys to continue this topic and make it more helpful...
